Help me understand. I'm not trying to fan flames but one thing doesn't make sense to me. To begin with i'm not a gun owner although I do plan to buy a hand gun in the near future for protection

Why would someone need an AR-15 rifle? I can understand stocking your home with a 9MM, or .45 and even a shot gun for protection If you hunt then even a few rifles works.

But why would someone need to have an assault rifle?

I'm a gun supporter to a certain extent and I don't understand this either. I feel the only people that should have access to them are the military and police officers.

they dont, its that simple. you dont need the ferrari either but you want it and dont want anyone to say you cant. when it comes to these tragedies people argue their freedom but ultimately something has to be done. we can say its a mental thing and i agree but we arent addressing the problem from any angle that actually prevents in from happening again. im not saying take the guns away, i am saying that people who just say the person is a criminal and throw your hands up as if ya cant do anything about it is insane.

there are children, automatic weapons and a school....i would imagine we are closer to no more schools and strictly online education then we are to people giving up their automatic weapon.

I agree with that too. I think that solves the biggest issue right there.

Yes guns are made for one thing. To kill. I don't think possessing and assault rifle is a right the average citizen should have.

To have a gun for protection, absolutely all day. But and assault rifle is made to wipe out masses of people. Why would a citizen require the right to be able to do that?

They're the best for home defense. Most mass shootings are due to hand guns. AR-15s look scary but they're not much of a threat.

Well for starters,an AR-15 isn’t an assault rifle...

I know those filthy hogs don’t like the dirt nap my AR-10 provides...

Actually,a simple shotgun is the best for home defense, but I sure do enjoy both...

from everything im gathering the majority of recent mass shootings are from the AR-15. i am no gun expert but the gun is essentially created to take out multiple enemies in a short time frame...sounds like an assault weapon right? you say it isnt an assault rifle but what is the difference then. the AR-15 can shoot 45 rounds or more in a minute i thought.

Selective firing...It’s still not sold as a fully automatic weapon,I.e. assault rifle. Huge difference...

Actually it's not. Shotguns don't hold the same capacity, take longer to load, and have nasty recoil. It's much easier for smaller people to handle an AR-15 than a shotgun.

thanks for clarifying. i support the right for people to own guns, i choose to not own one at this point. i have a hard time understanding the need for certain weapons that can do so much damage in such a short time frame. i get its your right, i just feel uneasy knowing people walk around with such weapons.

Longer to load? One in the chamber is one in the chamber. A shotgun fires PELLETS,not one bullet. Much more accurate and easier to shoot.

Recoil? A .410 ain’t much for recoil,but whatever,I couldn’t careless as my home is armed with both,and my AR isn’t a simple .223 either...

I carry an XDM .40. Hardly ever does the AR leave the house unless there’s a pig problem to take care of somewhere...

0 in the magazine is 0 in the magazine. What if there are multiple attackers? I know shotguns fire pellets, but the pellets only spread about 1 inch per meter from the muzzle.

Mass killings in the United States are
most often carried out with guns, usually handguns, most of them obtained legally.

I think if anybody had a loved one murdered in a mass shooting like this because some disgusting loser with a high powered weapon was pissed off....those people would be saying we need a ban on these things. Easy to sit in your home all comfy with your guns and say everything is all good.

Easy, they dont. Same reason no one needs to own a 650 HP car, a 15 bedroom house or a $12,000 watch. Toys and show off.

Ain’t shit in this World “all good” today. I wouldn’t say we need a ban even if my own mother was killed...
