One thing I haven't heard at all when discussing these shootings and how to prevent them.

How much bullying is going on in these high schools today?

There's bullying going on everywhere at virtually every school & they don't do enough about it.

I recently dealt with it with my 10yr old.

Obviously there's always been bullying, but not to this extent.

It's just another example of how twisted the thinking is with the younger generation these days.

But I don't believe bullying necessarily has anything to do with shootings.

I don't remember one single shooting anywhere when I was in school.

How would you know there's less bullying now than in history? That's impossible to know.

Yes they are. They want to get rid of guns. That's their solution. No different than when conservatives blame illegal immigration, when an illegal commits a murder and want to deport all illegals. Never real solutions, just people on the left and right looking for emotional reactions, instead of rational ones.

Can't beat your kids again, this is 2018. Guns is most people's solutions. I say they need to tweak the curriculum in schools a bit, that will help. Especially when kids are being taught topics that can be useful. Change up the message and approach. It is the 2000's and we are still telling kids weed is bad and a gateway to hard drugs. What are they going to say now that it is legal? Probably spending more time saying how sex is too dangerous now. Instead of wasting your time on that, put it towards something that they can actually use. Talk about dealing with stress and how to handle it and cope with it. Everybody deals with stress. EVERYBODY. That would be more beneficial than anything else they can think up teaching in health class. I think we did a day of CPR on a manikin when I was in school. A day. And kids don't give a fuck about the history of the world at 13 years old, it's a joke. Math/English/P.E. only things they have right. Too many people are looking just at the school shootings or just at the homes of the people and saying something went wrong. Well no shit, but if you can do something along the way to prevent that kid from going absolutely insane once he hits his breaking point, it could save many many lives. And it's not the parents who are going to do that teaching. Has to come from the schools. You telling me that wont maybe reach a kid who is going through a hard time or maybe make someone else feel compassion towards someone else. I'm not a mental health professional, but I know for certain they can do more IN schools about this.

No simple solution to preventing because the problem is not stemmed from one source. Multiple issues all contributing to this issue.

Bullying has always existed, but it used to mostly end when school was over for the day. Now, because of social media, the bullying extends to wherever the kid is at. The kids are constantly online, and they are bullied there.

Probably start with if someone says they are going to shoot up a school and then someone tells the FBI that they maybe investigate

This is another reason that you can't take our guns away. We can't even rely on the police who are armed to protect us.

There is no real solution.

Arming teachers?? Most teacher are mild mannered to begin with and most have likely never held a gun or shot it. Also, the first thing I think of with this solution is classrooms would resemble Gulags or North Korea camps where the kids go to school but they are just taught by guards rather than teachers.

Also so best case scenario of an armed teacher is a shoot out between teacher and student? Around other students? I have noticed that school are almost on constant lockdown and every door is marked with a number. Not sure the point of door numbering. When i was a kid, people just walked in and out of school. I had major discipline problems when I was younger, I no doubt would be expelled from school these days. I would tease the foreign exchange students like crazy, tell teachers I am taking over the classroom, randomly punch those dumb ass Indian kids, etc. Hell I would probably be targeted by a school shooter. Haha

Social media is the reason for alot of this crap and also of the millenial problem. These days, you have 10-12 years from birth to raise your kids and then alot of it is out of your hands. I don't know why 12 year olds need smart phones. When I was 12, the only peole I knew outside of family were some kids on the block.

When I was a kid, we had video games and you played them with friends but these days even sitting at home playing video games, with these headsets kids are interacting with complete strangers.

Such a different and more fucked up world. If I were a parent especially to a girl, smart phones and internet access would be monitored even if they bought the crap themselves. Not hard for a kid to save up for a computer or a phone if that his only expense.

Failure to act by one guy doesn't dictate the future actions of anyone else out there.

I wasn't even shocked by this. Police Officers are as overated as they come. Most school especially the high violence ones ( black schools) have cops in the parking lot

I am not like the homeboys wanting to kill cops but the job as a whole is easy to do. Alot of them can do the job their entire career without firing their weapon.

Most cops drive around, meet other cops to chat, give speeding tickets, interview the resident of a buglarized home, file reports, and push paper. And when they do arrest someone, its a 4 hour process on their end and its usually for a stupid offense like driving while suspended, pulling over at a fender bender, having a half gram of drugs, DUI, public intox. Something where their life will never be endangered
