Pretty good chance my girlfriend is pregnant. First time this has ever remotely been a issue for me.

She is awesome, been together 4 months, bit known each other since high school.

As many here know I was married for a long time, to the WRONG person, and never had kids.

She is 41, me 43. She's worried the baby won't be healthy at our age. I dunno, this chick seems cool, I know crazy takes a while to show, but she's in yoga, self awareness, non judgemental, overall awesome person.

I may be jumping the gun, but she seems nervous. I have no kids, she has one going odd to UK next year and another 13 year old, good kids.

I don't want to press abortion, I'm pretty anti-abortion. But man, never thought I'd have a kid, but this might be it. Time for bigbet to straighten up his game. Lol

This chick is pretty awesome, couldn't ask for a better chick. If a kid cramps my style for a bit, so be it. We can put him in a backpack and hike, or stroller and take him any where we might want to go.

Fellow gamblers, HELP......what is BB to do?

the odds of having a kid with a birth defect jump significantly at her age compared to 10 years younger. This is a big issue for me, I see kids that are severly autistic or born with down syndrome and have no chances of a functioning life. I guess you can hope for medical breakthroughs, but honestly I think the parents are selfish for not aborting if it was known or highly expected.

I can't give advice b/c I don't know all the details, neither you, her and so forth.

Health is a serious concern. Not just for the baby but also for her. Also, given the fundamentals you have provided .... with her age and other kids and so forth, that is a very tall task. I would say that the odds are not in your favor, the percentages are not with you.

Let us say, for example, that you are 35 and she is 28. Neither have kids, economics are good and etc..... that is a situation where the percentages are more in your favor. A lot more. Given the data you have provided, the numbers are against you.

I wish you all the best either way. The only thing I can say is, imagine the world 10 years from now. The odds are about 50% you will be raising a transvestite and society will have degraded to the point of bestiality.

"Honey, where is Trannysaurus (your kid's name)?" you'll say when you get home from work.

"Honey..... Honey, where are you?" you'll say as you walk around the house looking for your wife and transtoddler.

Then you'll walk into the garage and find your wife getting pounded by a donkey doggy style. Bestiality brought to you by ((them)).

Can’t type a lot right now but what a great yet scary situation. The odds of a birth defect of any kind are still somewhat low but rise substantially with each year after 40. Probably around a 1 in 80- 100 chance something could go wrong. I am sure you will read all about it.

Sounds like she doesn't really want a kid (or want a kid with you maybe).

Good lord a 1 in 100 chance and people want to kill a baby? Kids are the best thing that has ever happened to me, I have 4 and can't imagine life without one. Yes your life changes but I can't imagine one without kids.

Once you have it (if you do) you'll wonder how you ever even remotely thought about abortion. Congrats

kids are the best thing in the world and you will worry every day for the rest of your life by being a parent so worrying about any defect is normal. its parental instinct to worry about your kids at every moment so get used to it. dont do the abortion. your adults and its a decision made by adults. not a 1 night stand and not still in high school so to me you should live with the decision you made. just my thoughts and not gonna preach but your situation is not a bad one to raise a child and truthfully i think you will love it.

Having your own child will change your opinion on kids & you'll feel like you've never imagined.

Also, there's a poster on here I know, who fathered a child at 60yrs old, and all is well.

Things will be fine...

You'll probably look back on your life and think it was one of the best decisions you ever made. Not to mention possibly having grandkids, holidays together, passing on everything you've learned over the years, and maybe having someone who can help you out with things if you live into your 80's or 90's.
