I have a spreadsheet that calculates the EV of each bet if I bet everything at opening lines in hockey. It's a opening vs closing line comparison.

Long story short, only 6 of all 36 bets are +EV.

So the test is, if you can identify those +EV bets, then yes, sportsbetting works for you.

I'll bite. What is your point? And how do you make it work for winning investments?

This post was in reply to another thread but got taken out.

The original poster was asking whether people could go pro betting sports.

I am a believer that it works, you just have to be good at picking up opportunities.

For me, I focus on in game and 2nd half betting. I use closing lines from full game to tell me what lines are "probably" way off from its true value and go from there.

For instance, there is an nba game today, orlando memphis, where totals moved up 4 points, if you can bet it now at the opening line, you are likely to profit (not even long run...). Having said all that, its just a belief really.

I have no idea what your premise is.

Everyone has their own way of betting, there is no one size fits all.

I know 2 people that are very successful at betting on sports, their methods are completely different.
