The Miami Dolphins have found their replacement for Jarvis Landry at slot receiver. According to NFL Media’s Dan Hellie, Miami will sign former New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola once free agency opens up on Wednesday.

It was always a long shot that Amendola, 32, would remain with the Patriots. They’re not in the business of overpaying for their own free agents and have younger options currently on the roster.

In helping New England overcome the loss of Julian Edelman this past season, Amendola recorded 61 receptions for 659 yards and two touchdowns. He will immediately take over as the Dolphins’ top slot receiver now that the team traded the above-mentioned Landry to Cleveland.

Nope. Danny is not washed up. He will be a huge asset to the Dolphins. He is a hard nosed gutsy player who has sure hands and is not afraid to go over the middle. We have seen him make clutch catch after clutch catch. He is a skilled kick returner and has a positive, team attitude at all times. The only knock is that he is injury prone. But he played between 12 and 16 games each of the five years he was with the Pats.

Although rarely in the limelight he is a champion. Patriot fans will sorely miss him.

Guys like a 5'10" slashing wide receiver are more valuable than 1st round 6'4" 235 pound receiver with 4.4 speed with few exceptions. (Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson come to mind). Game is very open now.

You can get a guy like that in the 3rd round easily.

This is where most pats fans will say, who cares ... he's washed up anyway, etc etc :)

I'm bummed, I like Danny, but Jules is coming back dontchaknow

I'm not happy about Butler either, but everyone knew that was coming

The player I'm most concerned about is Lewis, looks like he's gone too

In Bill I trust, and this is where most Jets fans say "the Patriots are really fucked this time, they're in trouble this year, you better start worrying" :)

No, as a JETS fan I don't say that. I'm shocked that they let him go.

BUT.... if Gronk retires, then I can start posting about Pats fans to worry :)
