K-State will evaporate UMBC

UMBC got into this tourney because Vermont overlooked them in the conf championship game. Vermont had already beaten them twice by a combined 43 points! Then the same thing happened when UVA overlooked them, thinking there's no way a #16 seed will ever win. Well there's no more surprises now. K-State is ready and waiting. Although K-State is not exactly Villanova, they play a physical style and at a tempo that matches whatever style game they are in. They can play up tempo (90 points vs Baylor, 87 vs Oklahoma) or slow it down and grind down their opponent (58-48 vs Texas).

I heard an interview today where UMBC's coach said that his team was "gassed" at the end of the UVA game. Well UVA plays the slowest tempo game in the NCAA, so if they were gassed in that game then K-State is going to run these Retrievers into the floor. UMBC only rotates in 3 or 4 players off the bench in most cases, so if any of the starters gets in foul trouble or doesn't hit the 3-pointers, this game will turn ugly quickly. Not to mention UMBC now in a letdown spot, and with pressure and national media on them. Expectations through the roof for the Cinderella. No. Their wad is blown...I'll take K-State -10. Thanks, cashier

A team just covered by 42.
Now, getting 10 against a much lesser team. Dominated the # 1 seed in the tourney.
The 42 point thing is significant, we are assessing teams playing out of their conference and sizing up everybody accordingly. Butler covered their previous game by 19, were fortunate to cover but were in the game today the whole time.
I am looking at UMBC + 10.
They didn't just upset, they blew a top team out by 20.

Speaking from past experience the “gassed” and “fatigue” would disappear once getting on the floor. Maybe if regular season but not tourney. Especially the Big Dance , doesn’t mean that K State will not beat the number with a better talented team though

It is not like football where a team wins a blowout, with a punt return and a pick six and a blocked punt then they next game they do not cover. This is 2 or 3 points at a time over 40 minutes, every play is incremental gain or loss.
Virginia had chances to recover from being "flat", in the mid early second half were within reach and could not muster a run. UMBC just kept scoring and defending.
I am not saying this is a great bet but I cannot pass up the 10 pts, especially if it is true that Wade is still out for K St. (note that nobody has mentioned this important issue, "sigh")

Wade is not playing today, per ESPN's David Hale. I am buying my way out of this game. Good luck with anyone backing K State without their leading scorer. However, they just beat Creighton by 10, so who knows. But I'm not in the guessing game, so I am now out of this game.

Seems to me UMBC should be playing loose. No pressure on them at all.

It's amazing how sheepish the public is. Umbc is an immature street ball team. Virginia has always choked because they can't score. Kstate are grown men. This is a 15-20 point game minimum

start a thread- picking k st- then back out when somebody tells you wade out- why did you jump in on k st-when you should've known that wade didn't play in last game

I didn't handicap or bet K State's last game, so I was unaware of the Wade injury. I'm glad Serbone saved my ass on this bet.
