WASHINGTON – It’s death for drug dealers!

President Trump plans to implement the death penalty on major drug traffickers as part of his opioid crackdown in the United States, the White House announced Sunday.

“The Department of Justice will seek the death penalty against drug traffickers when it’s appropriate under current law,” said Andrew Bremberg, the White House Director of the Domestic Policy Council.

Trump has often praised dictatorships in China and the Philippines for stamping out drug problems with capital punishment.

Earlier this month, Trump said the opioid epidemic would be far less widespread in the US if drug dealers were just killed.
Some countries have a very, very tough penalty, the ultimate penalty – and by the way, they have much less of a drug problem than we do,” Trump said.

The White House declined to give examples of when the death penalty would be appropriate under Trump’s plan and referred inquiries to the Department of Justice.

Federal law already permits the death penalty for certain offenses like murder, terrorism and a large-scale drug enterprise, but capital punishment is rarely used on the federal level.

Trump also wants to increase criminal penalties for pushers of the deadly drug fentanyl that can be lethal in even small quantities.

“The president will call on Congress to pass legislation that reduces the threshold amount of drugs needed to invoke mandatory minimum sentences for drug traffickers who knowingly distribute certain illicit opioids, including fentanyl that are lethal in trace amounts,” Bremberg said Sunday on a call with reporters.

Trump will roll out his plan Monday to end the epidemic that killed more than 42,000 people in 2016 on a visit to New Hampshire, which has been hard hit by the opioid crisis.

The plan also calls for a launch of a public awareness campaign about the dangers of drugs, supporting research to develop a vaccine to prevent opioid addiction and cut the nationwide opioid prescription s by one-third within three years.

Often the prescription painkillers doctors recommend after a surgery become the gateway to drug addiction for their patients.

The White House also wants to ensure first – responders are supplied with naloxone, the lifesaving medication used to reverse overdoses, and will seek changes to the Medicaid law to boost access to inpatient treatment.

The plan – which did not have a price tag – would require federal inmates to be screened for opioid addiction at intake to better connect offenders with treatment.

Trump in October declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency and said his administration would produce a “really tough, really big, really great advertising” campaign.

I've been advocating this approach for a long time.

Drug dealers kill people and the souls of those who love them.

If the country is serious about stopping heroin addiction, kill the dealers. One chance only. Second conviction you're gone.

The problem will all but disappear.

Good, shouldn't be treated any differently than others guilty of mass murder.

How'd that work out?

I agree with most of Trumps policies, but don't agree with this war on drugs, that's why I stated he's going back to the 1980's mentality.

If he's gonna go after dealers, they better go after the Oxycontin organization......the family that owns the company is worth over $15 billion & just because they're a legitimate company, doesn't mean they weren't killing people with their oxy pills they were putting out.

This family made their fortune off of other peoples misery.......so instead of just getting a fat fine which they paid easily for lying about the oxys they were putting out, go after the company & shut it down, but this won't happen cuz the family has too many political ties.

The govt is going after doctors & putting them in jail......thats like putting the middle man in jail of a drug ring but not the top guy.

This drug war is a joke......people want drugs, alcohol, gambling & prostitution, so legalize it all & let the govt profit with tax.

If our govt really wanted to go after the Fentanyl problem, they would go after China hardcore, that where its all coming from.......put up huge sanctions against them......but guess what, that's never gonna happen because its all BS & a big political game.

"Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled." (Are we gonna go after car companies)

"Drinking too much can harm your health. Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.Jan 3, 2018" (how bout shutting down all alcohol companies)

"Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States, including more than 41,000 deaths resulting from secondhand smoke exposure. This is about one in five deaths annually, or 1,300 deaths every day. On average, smokers die 10 years earlier than nonsmokers." (this is the most disgusting habit of all & kills a ton of people)

"In January 2017 the Center for Disease Control has estimated that the number of people in the USA who had died from opiate overdose in the 12 month period prior to January 2017 was 64,070." (this number is a joke compared to any other death total, yet there's an agenda to go after doctors, etc.)

The drug war will never be won, & guess what? They don't want it to end, too much money to be made in locking up people & too many crooked politicians with their hands out making too much money.

Listen to his opioid speech in New Hampshire today.

He's going after manufacturers, doctors, pharmacists, dealers, mules, countries and anyone who facilitates the use of opioids.

The man has a plan of substance. If we want to defeat this brutal problem we should support his efforts. Anything less will result in failure, just like anything less has brought us.

I like Trump & most of his policies, but going after doctors, pharmacies, etc.....is not the way to do it.

If he's gonna stick all these dealers on death row or give them.a life sentence, will he be making an example of the family that owns the Purdue Pharma? Is he gonna take these billionaires that made a lot of their fortune off of peoples misery & put them.on death.row? Or give them a life sentence? Will never happen, cuz in this country, just like any other, if you're well connected, you can get away with anything.

Let's get serious, this is another dog & pony show, & let's face it, this kind of war always benefits the rich & politically connected, & the small fries get fried.

Like I stated before, I like Trump & most of his policies, anything beats shady Hillary, but I'm.not on board with going after doctors, pharmacies, etc.......stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Have we slowed down the cartels from Mexico? Lol, no.......but now we're going after our own doctors?

The main source of fentanyl killing people into.the US is China & Mexico, not our doctors & pharmacies.
