He was staying at the Red Roof Inn in Round Rock Texas early this morning, police were sitting waiting for him to come out. When he came out and started to drive off, they pushed his car off the road. At that point he detonated a bomb that was inside the car, killing himself.

That happened 4 miles from my dad's house... surreal.

probably was carrying it to the car

knowing the probable strength of the bomb and they could trap him in his car

sounds like less chance for more others getting hurt

Maybe they were letting him get away from the hotel in case there was a shootout or he ran back into his room and detonated something, assuming the hotel had a large number of occupants.
