I see the ABC store has shelves where the same brand of Scotch is lined up 12 years to 17 years in age....At what age can one taste the difference? I think maybe other brands had 10 year old scotch for sale... Just curious.

to me yes but really not much of a difference in quality, just preference in taste. blended just has several single malts as opposed to just 1, so they arent really supposed to taste the same but they are a decent substitute with its own distinct taste. usually single malt is more expensive but blends make up for the majority of scotches sold.

The Glenlivet is my favorite, but haven't really tried a lot of brands... (12 yrs old)...

glenfiddich is pretty good and can get it pretty much anywhere. macallan is great but cant get it at all bars like glenlivet or glennfiddich. a lot of people like chivas regal as a blend, not one i like personally but seems to be reasonably priced for a scotch. scotch and tequila are the only liquors thats you cant go cheap on. i can do a shitty vodka, bourbon, rum or gin and be fine. a shitty scotch or tequila and im hungover and done.

not a drinker of the stuff myself, but do buy a bottle of 15 year old macallan for our Family Doctor every Christmas

Have a good friend that also likes that or the 18 year old one

Good info!! Thanks. That will be my next purchase. I don't think Chevas regal or Johnny Walker taste great... Maybe the blue label, but outta my price range..

I remember my Dad drank Chevas Regal

Maccallan is a single malt, so not sure if that's what you're looking for

as far as Price, the 15 year old is about $100. 12 year is like $50 I believe
18 year old is $250 or so, but shop around because I think you can find it cheaper

I've gotten picky ... so to me single malts are worth the difference in price ..Taste better... But I'm not sure about the age.. Maccallan must be one of the best!!

there are different ones to the year also based on the casks they are distilled in. id say macallan 12 in sherry oaks cask is great value and right around 45-50 bucks. i cant tell much difference between that and the 15 or 18 to me. havnt had all their selection but they seem to do it right
