NFL star Michael Bennett indicted for injuring paraplegic NRG worker at Super Bowl LI

A Harris County grand jury Friday indicted Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett for the felony charge of injury of the elderly for allegedly injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic who was working at NRG Stadium to control access to the field at Super Bowl LI, prosecutors said.

HOUSTON – A Harris County grand jury Friday indicted Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett for the felony charge of injury of the elderly for allegedly injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic who was working at NRG Stadium to control access to the field at Super Bowl LI, prosecutors said.

Bennett, who played for Alief Taylor High School and Texas A&M, was in Houston in February 2017 to watch his brother, Martellus Bennett, play in the Super Bowl for the New England Patriots.

Immediately following the game, Bennett shoved his way on to the field where players were gathering to celebrate.

NRG Security personnel, including the 66-year-old disabled woman, told Bennett he had to use a different entrance for field access.

Instead, he pushed through them, including the woman who was part of the security team.

The charge, injury to the elderly, includes intentionally and knowingly, causing bodily injury to a person 65 years or older. It carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

As a result of the indictment, a warrant has been issued for Bennett’s arrest. Prosecutors are working with Bennett’s counsel regarding his surrender.

wow, wouldnt think it would take that long. thats even more embarassing. so before he bitched about vegas cops saying they used excessive force he used excessive force against a paraplegic. i really fucking hate that guy

He said a team doesn't want a bunch of russell wilsons. Lol. Hard working role model athlete? Ok. They want dogs. I think he actually used the word "thugs". "They need 4 or 5 thugs" on a team. Lol stupidest shit I believe I've ever heard. I get what he means but it still isn't necessarily right at all.

I've come to the realization that he loves conflict. Even if that's a joke...it's a terrible joke and he probably was trying to find any way he can to knock Russel Wilson. He's a clown.

You left off the most important...he made up a story that the LVPD abused him during a false arrest even though video evidence suggests otherwise.

I had more of an issue with what he said a team needs.

I had no issues with him running. But he was a hassle throughout that obviously.

A team needs 4 or 5 thugs to be successful. If your team is nothing but russell wilsons you won't be good. Think about the stupidity that is put into that statement. He couldn't diss Russell Wilson

If you don't think about these types of things, you can't see the big picture of why people think the way they do in the United States. People voted for Trump because of examples like this.

A black man can say a team needs 4 to 5 thugs to be successful but if a white player said that, he would never play in the NFL again. That's a double standard the average white NFL fan is disgusted with.

COPS ON MICHAEL BENNETT:SAID 'I COULD OWN THIS MOTHER F***ER'Before Pushing Elderly Woman In Wheelchair

Michael Bennett yelled "y'all must know who I am. I could own this mother f***er," before pushing an elderly paraplegic woman and injuring her shoulder ... this according to cops in Texas.

Houston PD just held a news conference to break down the Bennett incident at Super Bowl LI ... where he broke through locked doors at the southwest corner of the NRG Stadium tunnels.

Bennett was indicted by a Grand Jury today ... and charged with injuring an elderly person ... a felony. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

HPD says one of their officers witnessed Bennett push 3 stadium employees... injuring the 66-year-old who was in a heavy, motorized wheelchair. Cops say the wheelchair did not flip over, however, the woman was pushed back.

There is no video of the incident, according to cops.

The injured employee still works at the stadium.
