Fasting? Have you ever tried? What’s the longest you’ve gone without food?

Entering day 6th of my planned 14 day water fast. Last March I had to cut it short. I’m also a type 1 diabetic which can make it pretty interesting. So far, no food or insulin.

Where did you come up with the 14 day plan? Seems a bit extreme.. I read something about going a couple of days fasting being good, but have forgotten the details... Wishing you good health.

Have been doing intememtant fasting for years. It works for me. If I go a week or so straight of bad eating I will do a fast for a couple days just drinking water and I feel great

Takes a lot of "Try" Shub.

You have my respect!

Have no idea if he can or can't, but if he knew how to spot pick winners Shub could be one of the best gamblers on the board because he clearly has the requisite discipline.

Did it for a colonoscopy in November but only because I had to. Not for me, don't think I could do it unless there was for a medical procedure. Not exactly a test that you can cheat on without getting caught.

I've had 2 of those and each only required about less than 1 day of fasting. Has been a couple of years now...

Fasting ( for a given period and I don't know the details) is considered good for a person.... The devil is in the details.

I gave up beer and sweets for Lent. Heading to the track soon where I sit at the bar and pass on a lot of offers of free beers. Good for my soul, my body, and my handicapping.

One more Saturday next week, and I'm out. Can't wait for the cleansing to be over.

Never purposely fasted. However, I have involuntarily fasted for 2 days in the past for a couple different reasons...bed ridden due to the flu or a massive 2-day hangover...

Once you realize digestion takes a lot of energy to convert your food into energy, it makes more sense. Every night when you go to sleep your body has durations of detoxification. It’s almost impossible to completely detoxify when your constantly putting toxins in your body daily. By refraining from eating for two weeks that minimizes the toxins coming in. Also all the energy you normally would you use for digestion, you can now use it to cleanse your body. Your body is composed of 75 trillion cells. These cells can get up and got to the bathroom or go to the kitchen for food. They are surrounded by interstitial fluid( 80% lymphatic fluid and 20% blood) these cells create cellular waste, digestive waste and so on. Your lymphatic system is like your sewage system. It removes 95% of your toxins. The toxins are carried by your lymph fluid to the adrenal glands, little triangle glands on top of your kidneys. Then through your kidneys where you will pee it out. These cells eventually will go bad, while fasting your basically consuming your own body. It will get rid of all the damaged and weak cells.

After not eating your body will start to look for food. It will first dip into your digestive track which is mostly waste by that point. It will then start breaking down your muscle tissue for food, which is not ideal or efficient. After 3-5 days your body will then realize that’s not the most effective way to get energy. It will then start breaking down your fat, everyone has a least 2.5% body. Inside that fat is stored essential nutrients for when you can’t get to food. Starvation mode. So, now I’m getting nutrients and water without having in ingest many toxins as well as using all my energy to cleanse itself.
