I asked about single malts vs blended scotch... My results are in... Yes Maccellan wins the test for taste... But not by a huge difference.... If, and only asking, if Johnny Walker Black is the best Blended -12 year old, then I have to buy single malt for taste.... Maybe someone with more knowledge can suggest a better blended than JW Black.. If not I gotta pay price for single malt.. and go back to comparing to Maccellan.
personally my favorite is Glenlivet 21 year old but it will set you back about $200 for a bottle. You can find it in some other ports during cruises for alot cheaper. Thats when I buy it. It is absolutely fantastic but I understand most people dont want to drop two hundos for a bottle of booze. My best budget scotch is probably still a glenlivet but the 12 year. IMO the best one under $50 is Highland Park 12 year.
Blantons is good...but the domestic version is nowhere near all the exports they do. Blanton's Straight from the Barrel is a top 3 bourbon for me...it costs you about $110 all in to get it shipped from Europe. They only sell these in Europe and Japan (and Cayman?)
Blanton's Gold and and green label are both better as well.
My daily drinkers for under $30 are McKenna 10, Eagle Rare 10, and OGD 114.
Finally got into some BTAC collection this past weekend at Avenue Pub in NOLA...Handy and George T Stagg (which is unreal at like 160 proof).
Japanese whisky...I like yamazaki 12 more than 18...and Nikka From the Barrel is my fave.
