TAMPA, Fla. -- The head of team security for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is investigating an online threat made against general manager Jason Licht, a source confirmed to ESPN Monday.

On Friday, a fan with the Twitter alias @LuvDemNoles22 posted a series of angry tweets about the Bucs' draft, including a GIF from a murder scene in the movie "King of New York," and the words, "When I see Jason Licht the next time I roll through Tampa."

The fan later identified himself as Mike Rogers, 38, of Houston. Rogers told the Tampa Bay Times that it was a "total exaggeration," that he was "caught up in the moment" and upset that the Bucs didn't draft FSU safety Derwin James.

Federal law states that person found guilty of communicating a threat to kidnap or injure a person in interstate or foreign commerce is subject to a fine or up to five years in federal prison. Because the internet is a means of interstate commerce, online threats can be federally prosecuted.

They were talking about this locally this morning.

So....they will invest time & money into a football fan making clearly harmless threats only because he was pissed about the draft selections, but allow people every single day to direct borderline threatening comments towards our President Of The U.S, and do nothing.

Yeah...makes a lot of sense

How about they investigate how to draft college players. Fuck, even just google "how to draft" and read some articles. Something. Every single year I get pissed about my favorite teams stupid draft classes. This year wasn't as bad as most but imo it wasn't great. Good lord draft the safety from FSU and then if you want a DT come back and take Maurice Hurst in like round 3-4, who everyone knows is 1st round talent but was falling because of a health concern that will probably turn out to be nothing.

I've been pissed about tampa's drafting going back about 10-11 years when I wanted them to take Adrian Peterson but instead they drafted Gaines Adams. Every year since then its been basically the same. Terrible. The only year I was truly on board with their 1st round pick was Mike Evans and Gerald Mccoy. Both turned out to be great.

To me this year is the year that Winston needs to step it up and show if he's going to be an upper 1/3 NFL qb or not. To this point his stats are basically middle of the road in every category. Other qb's that are in the same age range have shown much more imo. Goff and Wentz for sure.

I honestly dont think it's gonna happen.

Accuracy is just like speed.

You're born with it.

Winston doesn't have it & never will...

Oh I agree. I wasn't on board with it when they picked him. I understood the pick but I didn't want him.
