Conservative senators have sent a letter to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
demanding that lawmakers confirm President Donald Trump’s 271 outstanding nominations
and pass a spending bill before the August recess or skip the break altogether.

Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) spearheaded the letter, which was also signed by Sens. Bill
Cassidy (R-LA), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Deb Fischer
(R-NE), Dean Heller (R-NV), Ron Johnson (R-WI), John Kennedy (R-LA), James Lankford
(R-OK), Mike Lee (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Dan Sullivan (R-AK),
Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

Will McConnell listen? Does he actually care? I suspect it will be business as usual.

We shall see.

Those conservatives are serious.
Yes they probably are but so what? McConnell sets the agenda and
if he doesn't come on board nothing happens.

And correct me if I'm wrong but the spending bill starts in the
House where they have a lame duck who's more concerned with
immigration policy.

I'm betting it will be typical government cluster fuck.

It's getting to be pretty clear that business as usual has at least been knocked off it's perch in this Presidency. Think that plays a large part in why Ryan is resigning. It's also pretty clear that Trump has the train going pretty well and that train stands to take him to one of the greatest Presidencies of the century. You think Ryan wants to bow out before having a significant impact on a piece of legislation that would put him in the history books WITH trump?

I'm betting that he gets his shit together and does something significant to help the Trump agenda.

Trump is great. Ryan and McConnell not so much. As little
as 2 months ago it was business as usual. A leopard doesn't
change its spots overnight.

Your enthusiasm is warranted but I need to see Congress get
it's shit together before I jump on the bandwagon.

I think cautious optimism is more appropriate at this stage.

There is a small but growing number of Republicans who take their words and their platform and their jobs seriously. Unfortunately, there are too few of them and far too many old time swamp creatures to get meaningful legislation passed

Hopefully AZ sends us two more game changers this year, and a few more from some other states

James Lankford apologizes to his black constituents for opposing election results, the 14 blacks in Oklahoma who voted for him.

Meanwhile, he would never ever apologize to his white constituents for stabbing Trump in the back.
