The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to sink in the National League West, and quite frankly, you know it is getting bad when the San Diego Padres have more wins and are playing better.

I'll take the Miami Marlins as my Bonus Play for this afternoon.

Sure, the Marlins (16-26) are in last place in the National League East, but the Dodgers (16-26) now have the same record after losing their last two in Miami.

They have lost six straight games, and it's become quite apparent after losing nine of its last 10, that Los Angeles is one of the four-worst teams on the senior circuit.

Miami took last night's game, 6-5, sending the Dodgers to their 13th road loss in 21 visits this season.

Los Angeles can't hit the ball right now, and I just don't see it snapping the skid tonight. Besides, with a trip to D.C. upcoming, the Dodgers' minds could be elsewhere.

Take the home team.

Comp play for Thursday is the Pirates on the Run Line as they host the Padres.

Pittsburgh has it cooking right now, as they host San Diego fresh off a two game interleague home sweep over the White Sox, as the Bucs have now won 7 of their last 8 games heading into this four game set, and their bats should stay hot against Padres hurler Eric Lauer.

Lauer has had a rough go of it since joining the rotation, as he is just 1-2 over his 4 starts with an ERA that rests at over 8.

Chad Kuhl will work opposite of Lauer, and Kuhl has posted quality starts for his club in 4 of his last 5 efforts. Included is his last start in which he worked 6 innings of 3 run ball in a no-decision against the Giants.

Kuhl will be steady, Lauer will get roped, and that my friends is how we will score out with the Pirates on the Run Line here on Thursday night.

Your Thursday freebie is the Over in tonight's Eastern Conference Finals game between the Lightning and the Capitals.

There have been 6 games contested in the finals thus far, and the common denominator has been goals, goals, goals.

Last night the Jets and Knights combined for 6 of them and an Over by a hook.

The Over stands at 2-1-3 thus far through the 6 games in the books, and I do like this Lightning-Caps game to see roughly 6 goals or more tonight in D.C.

The last 7 times these teams have skated, the Over has gone 3-1-3, so with Andrei Vasilevskiy and Braden Holtby not exactly channeling the spirits of Ken Dryden and Bernie Parent (only God save more than Bernie!), I will look for the offense to once again pepper these netminders, and for the Lightning and the Capitals to land Over the total in Game Four this Thursday night.

Play - Baltimore Orioles w/Gausman vs Price (Game 969).
Edges - Orioles: Gausman 1.80 ERA and 0.95 WHIP away this season… Red Sox: Price 5.93 ERA and 1.68 WHIP home this season … With Price just 4-9 in his last thirteen home team starts against the Birds, we recommend a we recommend a 1* play on Baltimore thank you and good luck as always.

The St. Louis Cardinals had scored just a total of five runs through three straight defeats, but they broke out offensively Wednesday in a 7-5 decision over the Twins. "It was nice to see the offense get into rhythm today. Hopefully, this is a little foreshadowing for what is to come. Hopefully, we'll get this going on the next homestand every day," Matt Carpenter said.
The Cardinals are 6-1 in the last seven meetings with the Philadelphia Phillies, and they look like a good bet here in the opener of a four-game set.
Luke Weaver (3-2, 4.91 ERA) will take the ball for St. Louis. He snapped a three-game losing streak with five scoreless innings of a 9-5 triumph in San Diego Friday night. Cardinals are 9-1 in Weavers last 10 starts with five days of rest.
Vince Velasquez (3-4, 5.05 ERA) will take the ball for Philadelphia. This will mark his second career start against the Cardinals. He gave up five runs on seven hits in six innings during a 9-0 defeat in the first meeting, back in 2016. Velasquez has struggled with the long ball of late and served up seven homers through his last four starts.
Free pick on St. Louis Cardinals.

Rockies vs Giants Free Pick May 17, 2018
The Rockies are two games out of first place in the NL West, a game and a half up on San Francisco. The two teams play Game 1 of a series in San Francisco tonight, and I expect a slugfest.
Chad Bettis will toe the rubber for the Rockies, and he's looking to bounce back from a terrible performance. He gave up seven runs on 10 hits and three walks over five innings in a home loss to Milwaukee. He's 3-2 with a 3.92 ERA in his last six starts against the Giants.
San Francisco will hand the ball to Jeff Samardzija, who is coming off back to back losses. The 33 year old was torched for 10 runs on 10 hits and five walks over 9 2/3 innings in losses at Pittsburgh and Philly.
The Rockies have seen plenty of Samardzija, and they haven't been fooled. San Francisco's lineup is batting .332 with eight home runs over a combined 220 at bats against the right-hander.
Take Over.
GL,
Jesse Schule
