Why the Padres on Monday at -110...The Padres come into Monday's series opener against the Rockies after a Sunday 5-3 home win against the Cardinals. Despite the Padres lack of offensive success of late, we look to their season numbers against LHP where the Padres are 7-7 where they see their aRPG increase to 4 RPG with a .219 BA/.279 OBP and an above-average 16 HRs against LHP. The Padres send Joey Lucchesi to the mound who is coming off of a quality start against the Nationals where he allowed 1 run through 5 IP on 6 hits, 6 Ks, and 1 BB. Looking deeper into Joey's saber numbers as of late, he has seen his GB% increase to 50%+ in his last two starts (season average of 43%) as well as his FB% drop to 15% in his last start (season average 34%). With his aV numbers staying consistent, we like Lucceshi in this home start against a lineup that has a combined 36 ABs against with a .139 BA/.225 OBP. The Rockies come into Monday's affair after a Sunday 7-3 home loss. This is a great spot to fade the Rockies after traveling and due to the fact that the Rockies see their offensive output drop against LHP where they average 3.6 RPG with a .224 BA/.294 OBP. Tyler Anderson will take the ball for Colorado who is coming off of an average start against the Angels at home where he allowed 4 runs through 5 IP on 6 hits, 3 Ks and 1 BB. Looking deeper into that start, Anderson saw his LD% increase to 17% as well as a hard contact% of 47% (season average 34%). Anderson may be dealing with something as his aV numbers are very inconsistent right now. We will fade Anderson in this road start against a lineup that he is exposed to with a combined 96 ABs and this being the third time the Padres will be seeing him in the early going of 2018.
