There are many who think FSU will be a contender during coach Willie
Taggart's first season. I'm not one of them. First, I believe the school
could have done much better than hiring Taggart. Second, the Noles
will face Louisville and Miami on the road in consecutive weeks, and end
with a difficult five-game stretch. (Clemson, @NC State, @Notre Dame,
Boston College, Florida) I can see a 7-6 season or 8-5 record at best.

    Tell me where I'm wrong.....

Who would have been the better hire of those available? Not calling for a playoff birth, but by far the best for this job. "Lethal Simplicity"....players will no longer be handcuffed by Jimbo and inept coaching staff. You suggesting they go 2-5 vs above teams? Lol

skeptical of Taggart as well but he has their '19 recruiting class off to one hell of a start and returns one of the best QB in the conference and a game-changing running back.

FSU have way too much talent to be 7-6 when you factor in that Jimbo left him with the #4-3-2-5 recruiting classes populating this squad. (Taggart pulled in #10 in 2018)

none of their 5 road games are easy but they will be favored in 2 or 3 of them and favored in 6/7 home games. 8-4/9-3 team for me. I'd even consider a small lump on 40/1 to win the national title...easily top 5 talent

Taggart is not even a .500 coach during his eight years as a head coach. He's won 48
and lost 51. He will be gone before his contract runs out.

    Western Kentucky - 2010-2012 (16-20)
    South Florida - 2013-2016 (25-25)
    Oregon - 2017 (7-6)

Florida State's QB (Deondre Francois) is being investigated for selling drugs out of his
apartment. Police raided his apartment and found drugs and related items. The ducebag
blamed his girlfriend. Another sorry ass QB coverup in Tallahassee.

I don't think you can use his won/loss record as an indicator. He took over a W KY team that was winless the previous year and hadn't beaten a FCS team in over two years. The S Florida team he inherited had just finished their worse season ever. His ability to quickly turn those programs around is a more telling indicator than his over-all record.

Personally, I believe FSU made a good hire. But there are questions he has to answer. One, can he win with his current players? There is talent in Tallahassee but they were not recruited to run his style of offense. How well he adjusts his system to their talents and how well they adjust to his system will determine his immediate success. Second, can he maintain long term success? Some coaches are great program builders but lack what is needed for long term success. Up to this point he has not stayed long enough anywhere to know about the latter.

Willie can recruit Florida very well. When jumbo left, many of my FSU friends said that Taggart was their first choice. The team is very talented

totally different world when you're coaching players at the talent level that FSU possess. the greatest of all time, Sir Nick Saban, went 25-22-1 in his first four years at Michigan State, never finishing better than 5th. Step him up to LSU talent and he went 48-16 with a natty. same coach, better players

didn't know about the francois drug stuff but few universities can sweep stuff under the rug better than Free Shoes U ... doubt anything comes of it

Good knowledge from you guys regarding to Willie Taggart and FSU. The talent is there so it's plug and play. Here are a few things note:

    1. Taggart is from FL which is crucial when recruiting.
    2. The kids can relate to him because he's a player coach and understands the teen culture.
    3. He knows how to adjust. I think people don't know that Jack Harbaugh is the one that taught him coaching at WKU when he was a player. Also coached under Jim his son. They are hard nose run the football coaches. At USF it didn't work due to the spread option talent. So he came up with the Gulf Coast offense. You would never get anything creative like that from Jimbo.

First year I'm saying NY6 bowl. The real only problem is the O line. But then again we have a coach that can adjust. No long routes and he will run the ball more. Taggart will get FSU a title in the future. It's going to be really scary when he gets all the pieces together and the kids have chemistry.

Great diagnosis Seminoles; The "wild card" for all coaches is getting that "Chemistry" right which is no easy matter; If college football coaches could convert that aspect into a pure-science, the rest would be easy.

I always liked that hidden "Gremlin" lurking in the upper-levels of the stadium that often favors the home team, especially when the big game is being played. That was one of Bobby Bowden's secrete weapons while at FSU getting that Gremlin to work in his favor at the right time . College football results do unfold in mysterious ways.

    Good luck this year.

Agreed. Thanks. Funny you mention Bobby Bowden. Because Taggart is trying to implement his philosophy also. Taggart is an FSU fan and looks up to Bobby. He's bringing back all the old things Bobby used to do. Score at will and dominate on offense. Oh and PLAY the BEST PLAYERS! If you are good, you are getting on the field. This didn't register in Jimbo's head. He went by seniority over skill. smdh.
