Was talking about this with some guys and was wondering on how Vegas will still attract people to come there (probably a dumb ?).If I can go to a local place to place a bet and get comps and etc why go to Vegas.

Feel free to chime in on this curious to hear thoughts on this

I don't really see that happening,as Vegas rooms are actually cheap unless you stay at one of the mega resorts.I myself have found that there is more fun, cheaper tables, cheaper drinks, more payoffs, etc, and the rooms are like $29-$35 in places like,Orleans,Palace Station,Westgate, all of downtown, and a few off the strip area, but even those you can get to with shuttles.

hope some of this helps you Gravy

At some point, Vegas will have to go back to it's roots to attract tourists. You can only push and push so much before you turn off your tourist customer base.

Kids in their 20's don't gamble as much studies say. So at some point, dirt cheap rooms and great dining deals will make a return if they want to survive and thrive.

Rooms are cheap until they put those resort fees that are added on to the room

I hope so, dinner on the strip and good seats to a good show is $ 400 per night

It might impact some of their biggest events, like football weekends and the SuperBowl and March Madness

It might not affect them right away, but in several years after California & several other states around them get sports betting (Vegas gets a lot of Cali bettors), business will go down IMO during the SB weekend, March Madness, etc......even the football season will suffer in several years because the other states will all be online with mobile betting, etc.....

Seems like Vegas is adding all kinds of fees past couple years. Time for Vegas to start handing out stuff like they use to.......I wonder if Vegas will lower their juice to -105

The past few years I feel the party scene growing in Vegas, more club promotions and more people people there to party rather than gamble.

I think Vegas will still be Vegas for a long time. Maybe not what it is today, but they will get the people. and like you said, they get a ton from California and also AZ
But I'm not thinking gamblers, I'm thinking the Party seekers.

Remember this for the East Coast Sportsbook location ..... Winters are Real Winters as far as Weather.
So yeah the Northeast customers might go down south to like Florida, but if they don't offer what Vegas does, they just might hop a plane to LV
Now I know Vegas gets cold in the winter months, but they ain't getting Snow storms

Weather is going to be Key for most on Vacation. Plus the crowds that you get in Las Vegas, when it's packed, you have 20% Gambler ?
so I'm guessing, but 20 out of 100 people gamble, the rest are there for vacation, and if they do gamble, they throw in $20 bucks in a slot and they are done.

That's my feeling over the past 30 years that I've been going there. A lot of tourist go to vegas. a lot of Families

California will drive what happens, but just remember when clubbing, restaurants and shopping all boomed as revenue sources, room rates did not go down. The gambling companies are all poised to compete in the states to offer services which will be new revenue sources...that won't impact room rates as (besides California) the main impact on rates and occupancy is conventions. In other words the thousands of man-groups and husbands/wifes who make the trip really don't have much leverage which is why they have to pay to check a bag, to hire a cab, to park in a casino or to pay a resort fee.

if You're playing at any of these casinos , points you're racking up should get you some comps or reduced prices on hotel stays... can't imagine it not helping though with sportsbetting competition

I dont think Vegas will lower its room rates because individual States now have the right to become bookmakers. Hockey is the least bet sport of the BIG 4 (Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey) by far. FB, BB and BSKT make up 90% of the wagers bet on sports. So just because Vegas has a NHL team its not going to change the EBIDA of the entire industry. However some books will suffer some good losses on Future bets if Vegas beats the JETS and goes on to win The Stanley Cup.

I just read an interesting article at Morningstar about how the ruling isn't going to help Vegas at all.

http://www.morningstar.com/articles/866216/legalized-sports-betting-wont-be-a-gamechanger-her.html.

.......Further, only 34% of Vegas’ entertainment revenue came from gaming, with just 2% of that from sports betting....

In my opinion, the vast majority of the 18,000 people who go to T-Mobile to watch Hockey are either locals or tourists that just happen to be in Vegas that day. By vast majority I am speaking of 90% or more, again that just my opinion and I dont have any data to back that up but going to games and talking to people while getting a drink or standing in line this is what most people tell me.

Great find Billyrae, I would challenge that figure just a touch,, in that,,, the 2% of sports doesnt include bringing your bitch, or your BOYS to THE CITY, and they DUMP 10,000 into the MACHINE that is vegas,,,

NOWWWWW were talking more than 2 % my point is that ITS THE PERIPHERAL Profits they make from the ME, and the YOU that are there to cut vegas throat,,

cheers..

I just don’t think people are flying to Vegas weekends to place bets on sports. I mean really....can anyone on here say that they flew to Vegas to bet on sports?

I'm baffled by this question as Sports Gambling, to my knowledge, is not a huge revenue source for the casinos. They make much more from selling rooms to conventioneers, shows, restaurants, and entertainment.
