President Donald Trump on Monday night disinvited the Philadelphia Eagles from joining him at the White House, blasting members of the Super Bowl champions for his attack on NFL players who do not stand for the national anthem.
“They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House press office. “The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”

Trump has repeatedly attacked players who choose to kneel or protest during the national anthem as unpatriotic, and applauded the decision by the NFL to fine teams for the upcoming season if any of their players refuse to stand during the anthem. Players can stay in the locker room, but if they are on the field they must stand. The NFL Players Association said the league did not consult the organization before implementing the policy.
Trump said that instead of welcoming the Eagles to the White House on Tuesday, he would hold a ceremony for the team’s fans that will “pay tribute to the heroes” in the nation’s military and “loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.”

100% WRONG VD!! The players STARTED this kneeling crap,no Democrat,no Republican,no one but the players started this.If a large percentage of the Eagles do not want to go to the White House, then to hell with them,I would say the same thing if Obama was President and players were protesting Obamacare.Always go to the start of the problem, and the the problem started with the PLAYERS

Respectfully, this isn’t about the National Anthem...nobody can take away a persons right of freedom of speech even if it is against the POTUS...Trump is taking this personal...he is mad because some players refused to go....The NFL has done a lot of community service over the years and have helped others less fortunate...there are players that have served in the military....sorry michael777, this is all about Donald trying to get his way and discredit the black players that disagree with his policies...

There is no freedom of speech at a place of employment. Why do you guys continue to say this?

Dead wrong.

You don't have free speech when you're an employee and on the job.

The players are idiots. How many of them take up this cause on their own time? They have no free speech at work. Half of them would be mopping floors if they had no talent.

Nobody's rights have been taken away. They can do whatever they want to bring attention to whatever cause they think needs attention, on their own time. Your employer can prevent you from behaving in a fashion that hurts their business, and that's what they did

Personally, I think their cause is bullshit, and I think they're a bunch of idiots, but I don't care what they do on their own time.

I doubt any of these protesters bring any real value to their communities. Too selfish for that

To put it bluntly, the cause their protest is based on is a lie. It's really that simple.

Why do we not see them protesting in off season? Stating their cause? Going on speaking tours to raise awareness for whatever it is ? I’m still not sure I understand what they are protesting

I agree Red, it’s anprivilage. Of all the teams that have gone over the years I’m sure many players didn’t agree with who was in the WH but they went because it was an honor

To be fair, one of these guys for the Eagles, Chris Long, donated his entire year's salary to programs for underprivileged youth in three different cities.
