UPS drivers set to strike

looks like they got the company by the balls on this one. Teamsters have more than 90% of UPS workers on board for a strike which covers more than 275,000 employees. FT drivers make 75k/year (on average)

last strike was 1997 and, since then, UPS' unionized workforce is up more than 40% but has risen far more slowly than UPS' revenues which have tripled to $67B

USPS cannot pick up this slack so if they do strike there will be a whole lot of angry Americans since most of us to a decent amount of shopping online

A two week strike would project out to a $1B loss for UPS

I just read that their contract expires at the end of July...a long way away. I say it doesn't happen.

Amazon is a beast. They will get it done without ups and putting the rest on post office. Other shipping companies don't know.

They are already extremely overpaid.

They won't even get out of the freakin truck these days.

Ive dealt with them locally with city govt where they or customer relays msg by calling to complain when there are low spots or bumps pulling up to maiboxes.

They telll the customer they cant deliver their mail like that.

Ummm no you get your lazy azz out if you have to like mailmen/mailwomen used to do.

On August 1, if the contract is ratified, a sleeper team job with the single classification—pulling one trailer--will be paid 84.42 cts per mile. A double trailer gets 86.26 cts per mile, and a triple gets 88.1 cts. On August 1, 2022, those rates, after annual progressions, would be 92.29/94.29/96.31 cts per mile, respectively.
