I always tip in Cash, because in some cases they won't get their Tip from the restaurant until later in the week
and figure they mainly work for tips and can use that Money ASAP

Cash is preferred by all. And I usually place it in the check and hand it to the server.

I prefer to give them cash but unfortunately I don't carry it on me often.

I do usually ask if they have to split tips or not though.

I don't approve of the places that do split them and in cases like that I tell the server that the tip is for them only & if management has a problem with it to come & see me.

We eat out so often I can immediately tell if a waiter or waitress is cut out for the job.

we have a new distillery in town, Quantum, that factors the tip into the price of the drinks and does not take cash.

i don't really understand what they're trying to accomplish because i don't want to tip the same for shitty service as poor service nor do i want the bartenders having to declare tips as wages

anyone know this practice? it's a new one for me

In most places(obviously not all), the servers/bartenders are going to walk out with all their tips for the night whether you tip on the credit card or not. Also, most restaurants are going to automatically going to force the servers to claim 11-14% of their sales as tips whether they made that much or not.

been a bartender either full time or part time for close to 12 years now. tip me in cash the first time and see how quick you get your second drink....we remember, and if you tip well you wont wait all night. you think "the bartender sucks because he keeps passing me up"...not always. we work for tips and the guy that leave $20 on $50 (cash) the first time i serve him wont wait for a drink all night....cash is stilll king and taxation is theft.

However I pay the tab. I used to be 90% cash and not too long ago, but now it's probably more like 80% card because of rewards.

Yep, I've morphed into a fucking bonus whore

Usually credit card unless I happen to have cash on me just never seem to. Used to go to a local bar 5 minutes before the cover started that served free beers and would give the bar tender a $20 bill on the first drink. Rest of the night would get preferential treatment from the bar tender.

I pay the bill with credit, to get my rewards, but I almost always tip in cash to avoid owners/governments stealing their share!
