ok, let me get this straight....

two black kids, a 20 YO and a 17 YO, shoot up a place in a drive-by and take down some guy they were specifically aiming for

incident is called in, vehicle put out on APB, and minutes later cops spot the vehicle in question which has bullet holes in the back window.

cops pull it over and immediately both the driver and passenger take off and flee the vehicle. a cop takes aim and downs the 17 YO who is pronounced dead a few hours later. Two guns are recovered from the car which are expected to match the ballistics report from the drive-by shooting

press headlines?

On ABC news this morning they actually described this as "unarmed male fleeing from a car"

As if he were running from a car and the cop passed by and just opened fire.

You're right, the truth is unlikely to start riots. If you tell the truth, there will be no Al Sharpton sightings. If you tell the truth, Hillary can't say "I told you so". If you tell the truth, the media can't use this incident as evidence President Trump and his supporters are "white supremacists"

and now the national media has to take their headlines up a notch. too fn funny! now the narrative will turn to a poorly trained officer and everyone will forget this kid was likely just pumping out shots in a drive-by shooting. And, every pic they show will be him smiling or at the prom....guaranteed

Let me play devils advocate for a moment Rolltide.

Say the cops spot the shot up car and they know it's the car used in the earlier drive by shooting. The car gets stopped, leaving the weapons in the car, the kid runs from the cops and he gets shot in the back by a cop fleeing the car.

Is it a good shooting?

I heard there were 3 kids in the car they stopped and they had the driver in custody when the other 2 fled. They let the driver go after questioning him. Why would they let him go? Also the cop who shot the kid was just sworn in that morning. First day on the job. But he did have prior police experience elsewhere. Hope they had the right car.

hell yes it's a good shooting and what you outlined is exactly what the early evidence is showing. how is a cop supposed to know the kids left the guns in the car? he/she has to assume if they just performed a drive-by that they still have the guns in their possession and that they present an imminent threat

is the cop supposed to wait for the kid to turn and fire on him or just let him run away and get away with a crime?

i don't want to see unarmed kids die but it's not like a memo went out that they left the drive-by shooting guns in the car. a criminal got shot and died.

that sucks and all but if this were white people the media would be asking how they obtained those guns and what background checks they went through, if acquired legally.

i'm not saying you have this mentality but it's also the reason why cops are now thinking twice about going into shitty sections of cities and responding to gun violence. the blacks are now crying about how police are never around to protect and serve them but if they do their job they get their cars overturned. typical black liberal deflection of responsibility and accountability. it's always someone else's fault so let's call Reverend Al...

earlier that night there were about 4 other black-on-black gun murders in the Hill and in East Pitt including a supposedly famous rapper. The media interested in any of that? nah, let's talk about the white cop that shot someone fleeing the car seen in a drive-by.

Well, this is the dilemma cops face each day. They have to judge and make a decision if a suspect poses a threat or not. Let's say a kid is stopped and pulls out a cigarette lighter but the cop thinks it is a gun and shoots the kid. The cop can't say "how was I supposed know the lighter wasn't a gun?"

One of two things has to be present for this to be a good shoot. The cop has to feel his life was in immediate danger from this kid or he has to feel the public was in danger from this kid. I can't see how he felt his life was in danger as the kid was running away from him but the public? That may work.
