They have been through a tough stretch and have played fairly well of late. They still have to play 3 with Yankees and 4 with Nationals this over the next 7 days but after that it gets easy. They have 88 games left to play going into today. 27 of those games are against the Mets and Marlins. 15 of those games are the Mets. They also have another 9 games against the Orioles and Padres. Another 4 games against the Reds but I'm discounting them because they are suddenly playing well. What does this all mean. The Phillies can win the NL East. The National League as a whole is mediocre this year. No one is playing .600 baseball. There are four teams in AL playing at that percentage. Not only can the Phillies win the NL East they can end up with the best record in the National League. The Braves have a much tougher schedule going forward. They have to play 3 with the Reds starting on Monday and now is not the time you want to play them. Followed by three series with the Cardinals, Yankees and Brewers on the road. Maybe the Cubs and Dodgers will get hot after the All-Star break and look like the teams to beat in the NL but should this trend continue don't be surprised if the Phillies are playing in the NLCS in October.

Not hitting, but they play Atl something like 7 games in the last 10 days, so there is still a long way to go. Caberra has got to get going..obp only something like .260 for them right now.

So can anyone figure out wtf Kapler is doing with the lineup?
I knew he's been tweaking it, but I'm pissed at myself because I backed them today, thinking that they might break out of their slump against Miami. But when I saw the lineup, I about shit.

Played them 10/1 to win the division when they signed Arrieta. Looks like not enough bats and a poor D will do them in.

I was dead wrong about this team. They fell apart. After they took over the lead in the East. Both their pitching and hitting stopped and their horrible defense caught up with them.

Phillies shit the bed yesterday and they could lose again today to the Marlins. They need to take care of business.

Overachieved early and in a terrible division allowed them to hang around as long as they did.

  • The Red Sox defeated the Braves 5-1 in Atlanta shortly after this game concluded. The Phillies have gained ground in the standings and are now just 3 games back from first.
