B&M Poker Dealers...... A few ?

These questions go out to current or past Brick & Mortar poker dealers.

A friend of mine seems to think he can easily make 6 figures dealing poker only at a major casino in Vegas. I think he's way off base and in for a rude awakening.

Questions:

How much did you make per hour based on the casino pay?
How much did you average a day in tips and did you get to keep all of your tips or have to commingle.
When it comes to tournaments how did you get paid? Also do the dealer appreciation for extra tips all go to the dealers or does the house get a cut as well.
How many hours a week did you average?
Benefits?

I am sure things are different by state and individual location so you could indicate where you work or worked that would be great.

I think I am winning this wager with ease. I'd be glad to pay though if dealers were making this kind of money in our wager.

Crickets so far,!

Well i'm not a dealer but play often and have spoke with many ......... Not sure it "would be easy" --to make 6 figs as your friend said; but i do not doubt it could be done, with a little hustle....

you would have a much better chance if you where a high end--cocktail waitress

IN MY OPINION........
To many variables for either of you to be declared the Winner if you bet this somehow !!! Bet on a Baseball game or something else instead!!!!!

I was in the business for 6 years as a table games dealer and supervisor. I can't answer all of the questions being in a different department but can say with certainty your friend is way off. They make $25 an hour on a good day. Benefits were decent if you are full time but a lot of casinos make it difficult to become full time.

I shouldn't say with certainty as I'm only speaking to the 2 casinos I worked in. But there were Vegas dealers who came to the east coast to work. I can't imagine they were throwing away a 6 figure income to deal somewhere else.

Underground poker room - depends but very possible depending on a lot of factors obviously

I always wonder this myself. You always tip the dealer $1 on every hand. Let's say 25 hands are dealt a hour on a 8 hour shift, that would be $200 a day. On a 5 day a week shift for a year that would be $52,000 a year. Now you add in what they make a hour from the casino which I have no clue.

Enjoyed my days as a part time Poker dealer in the early 80s in Las Vegas...If I didn’t hook up with offshore gambling I would have been happy being a Poker Dealer....it is not as easy as it looks and you often take some verbal abuse....but if you can control a game, you have a nice gig....

No way you get 25 hands dealt in one hour....lucky to get 15....

I deal 28 hands in a 30 minute down consistently on a low limit table still.
when we were way low 1-2 limit (in FLA)we made bank lol.
- and had 5 hour waits to play in July.

What is the average number of hands dealt in one hour? Say in a 1-2 no limit game....28 hands an hour is a lot of hands....

no limit hands per hour much lower than limit. also in limit
holdem, the hands per hour go up as the limits increase.
finally, holdem spreads more hands per hour than Omaha.

Thats probably min wage plus 2 tournament downs..
(7.50 + 16.75 + 16.75)

but u have to account for breaks..

my buddy went out and dealt in this years wsop and cash games. he said he made $15k in the 6 weeks out there
