You opt out when you feel your talent/play surpasses your option/contract. Doesn’t necessarily mean you want to leave, may mean you want more money. The team who you were just with can still offer the most money.. Seeing this Dwayne wade/ Paul George conversation does make it sound like he’s going to LA tho. I just think he likes it in okc and has unfinished business like he said there. I’m not sold he wants to play with Lebron. Kawahi does because kawahi doesn’t care about the limelight. But when you play with Lebron it’s “Lebron and company.” “Russel Westbrook and Paul George.” Some players like being their own guy.
PG took the 4 years I think to be in line with Russ, when they both can decide if they want to leave and go to L.A. together. Only thing that makes sense on why he would take 4 instead of 2 and go for the 10 years of service where he can opt out then and get more money. But like I said, some players like to be their own guy. You can be your own guy next to Westbrook and still get limelight. Next to Lebron in L.A? Hell no. It would’ve all been about Lebron.
