Why are brain dead people starting new football leagues when Arena Football is dying

Do Vince McMahon and Charlie Ebersol really think they are going to turn a profit. Both leagues are going to be an inferior brand of football with substandard players. The books will again put lines up because there is no chance a player making $75000 a season wouldn't do something to put an extra of couple dollars in his pocket. The same player wouldn't be aware that most likely the league will fold in a couple of years and he will be back working at 7/11 for $10 an hour. The AAF says they are going to pay coaches $500,000 a year. It's like an old folks home for coaches. Steve Spurrier is 73, Mike Martz is 67, Dennis Erickson is 71. They are going to pay their players $50000 a season plus incentives. I guess they all can dream that they will be the next Kurt Warner. Why don't the other sports start substandard leagues and televise games. There has to plenty of NBA players who are cut and players who end up going to Europe. You could do the same in baseball. You have guys stay in the minors their whole career. Create another professional baseball league to compete against MLB.
The XFL was a gimmick before and is a gimmick now. Same goes for the AAF. If people enjoy watching players who can't make an NFL practice squad, go for it. The difference between the old AFL, the USFL and the ABA were they competing directly with the NFL and NBA and outbid them for real talent coming out college. You think a player like Reggie White would ever end up in the XFL. No, the USFL outbid for his services that's how Memphis got him.

I think they have to go after big name coaches to make it seem legit. I like the idea of eliminating the onsides kick and letting the losing team take the ball from their own 35 and have it automatically be 4th and 10. No extra points either, you have to go for two after a TD. It will be interesting to see if the NFL eventually adopts any of these changes.

I can't watch arena football...just plain boring for me.

I watched a CFL game last night and didn't enjoy that either.
The receivers are off sides on every play and they don't call it.

Guess I just like old fashion American football.

The NFL is a cartel and a mafia. It will die eventually.

((They)) have to understand they operate things with a destructive, evil intent... so eventually they will destroy it.

Offsides? Do you mean when they get a running start which is allowed?

Vince is prepared to spend close to half a billion on this which is crazy considering he is worth only a couple of billion at the moment. I can't see this working out for him but Vince is hard headed sometimes.

I think the newer leagues have a better chance than Arena to be honest

Wish we could see the USFL again.

i think the allure of this idea is that it is unique programming offered at a time with no major direct
competition with a market that wants/needs original programming that is cost effective and has
a built in watching clientele. two things to remember. there are many different cable channels
out there that want content and need content to differentiate themselves from the competition.
also the average viewer for football tends to fall into predictable and desirable age demographics.
whether a new league can deliver a league that is watchable is another story, but the fact that
this idea is being pursued makes a lot of business sense.

USFL was real football with great players. Steve Young, Mike Rozier, Gary Zimmerman, Vaughan Johnson, William Fuller, Mel Gray. Trump ruined it as he trying to gain entrance into the NFL by going head to head with them.

The NFL is kind of like the Democratic party... it will collapse eventually.

The only question is timing. One never knows.

Meanwhile, look into baseball and freemasonry. Especially the two poles in the opposite outfields and the checkerboard grass outfields.

You could be a pro ballplayer who played for decades... and not even see this shit that has been in your face from the very beginning. Same with the sacrificing of children.... they just can't do it out in the open.
