Why the Cardinals on Thursday at +120...the Cardinals come into the series opener against the Giants after taking two of three from the Diamondbacks. With a .245 BA/.299 OBP/6 HRs over their L7 Days, the Red Birds will look to Luke Weaver to get the series off to the right start. Weaver is coming off of a poor home performance against the Braves in which he allowed 8 ER on 10 H over 4 IP on 5 Ks, 2 BBs and 2 HRs. When taking a look at Weaver's splits, not going to be scared off by his LS numbers at home where he carries a 5.32 ERA over 44 IP on 7 HRs, compared to the 5 HRs allowed on the road over 45 IP. Heading into the pitcher friendly confines of AT&T Park should get Weaver back on track, a park that he has a 1.86 ERA over 9 IP on 13 Ks, 4 BBs and 1 HR. Looking deeper into Weaver's LS, his velocity numbers have calmed back down to SA, which should be enough to get through this Giants lineup with little exposure with a combined 36 ABs to match a .250 BA and 1 HR. Johnny Cueto will take the ball for San Fran who will be coming off the DL after not pitching since April 28th. The room for concern with Cueto and the Giants in this spot is that Cueto pitched just 7 2/3 IP since going on the DL. With the light work load during his DL stint, the Cardinals should get to him in this pitch count monitored start. Cardinals with heavy exposure against Cueto with a combined 135 ABs. Giants currently taking 72% of the action with LM from -143 to 132.
