I define that generation as being much younger than many believe. I think they're people born after 1995, give or take a few years. I think they're the generation that grew up with smart phones and social media,

Those were not my kids, born in 85 & 87. They didn't have a cell phone (to make TELEPHONE CALLS) until high school. Smart phones came later, and social media didn't explode until they were already in their 20's.

I'm not trying to brag here, I'm just trying to differentiate. My kids worked since they were 16. They had bank accounts, a checking account and even their own credit card once they were in college. We were trying to help them establish their own credit before the graduated and became adults. They're responsible, and they understand nothing in life is free.

Comparing them to me nieces and nephews and that generation all 10+ years younger. These kids don't work, their whole life (with a few exceptions) is social media. They mostly don't respect authority, really have little knowledge if any about politics (which is not such a bad thing). They're arguments on subject matters are literally the 10 second sound bite.

The generation as a whole is lazy, irresponsible, uninformed living like they're socialites. Will they ever acquire the skill sets or the work ethic to run things? Or will we skip over them and hope the children of generation X is more qualified?

I know experience is the world's greatest teacher, I know they're young and people can and do change, but I seriously wonder sometimes we're they're headed

Mark Zuckerberg is a Millenial and he's the 3rd richest person in the world so, yeah, they will definitely lead.

interesting you bring up the "sound bite"...the last 20-30 minutes of that interview I sent you discusses how click-bait and short sound bites are media announcing they have thrown in the towel. The true discussions will be long-form podcasts and town halls.

personally i don't know if Millenials have the attention span to sit through a 3-hour podcast but the ones that do will be adequately informed and actually know what they're talking about.

In charge? Before I answer I need to know of what?

the country, a business, their own lives?

essentially anything

PS: remember, I'm defining that generation as people who grew up on smart phones and social media. I think that generation starts at least a decade after many other do

you're talking about the iGen group then ...

Millenials, like Zuckerberg, lead many companies in their mid-30's but certainly didn't grow up with smart phones and social media. Those folks can't really be older than 20 right now as those two things didn't exist until mid-late 90's

I have to deal with young Millenials (those 24-30 YO) and they're a pain in the ass. I don't deal with the iGen's yet and I sort of dread the day i will have to....

There will be exceptions but in general but my guess is they will be
ill prepared to be ultra successful in terms of great achievements.

As far as I'm concerned the only generation that stands out is the
1910 to 1924. They managed to survive the Great Depression win a couple
of World Wars and still found time to built a country.

If we ever find ourselves with the need to mass produce anything we're fucked.
Our manufacturing capabilities are virtually nil. We rely on other countries
for almost everything.

As an example there are currently 9 active steel mills in the country.
Back in the 40's and 50's there twice that many in Pittsburgh alone.

We don't want to admit it but we've become soft.

The fact that Zuck has so much influence is frightening. His Congressional testimony was a disaster and he followed that up by saying questioning a school shooting survivor can get you kicked off FB but questioning the Holocaust will not. Then he "clarified" that at an 8th grade level.

He's luckier than Cuban in terms of how he got his wealth and really has no critical thinking abilities.
