REPORT: House Conservatives Prepare to Impeach Rosenstein as Soon as Monday

House GOP lawmakers are preparing to push to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as soon as Monday, according to three conservative Capitol Hill sources.

Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows previously drafted the impeachment documents, however nothing has been filed yet.
GOP Congressmen are fed up with Rosenstein’s continued stonewalling of their probe of the FBI’s and DOJ’s corruption, Spygate and Russiagate during the 2016 election.

Politico reported:

House conservatives are preparing a new push to oust Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, according to three conservative Capitol Hill sources — putting the finishing touches on an impeachment filing even as Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for interfering in the 2016 election.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, in fact, had the impeachment document on the floor of the House at the very moment that Rosenstein spoke to reporters and TV cameras Friday.

Conservative sources say they could file the impeachment document as soon as Monday, as Meadows and Freedom Caucus founder Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) look to build Republican support in the House. One source cautioned, however, that the timing was still fluid.

“It has not been filed today,” was all Meadows spokesman Ben Williamson would say. Williamson declined to rule out whether Meadows intended to file the document next week.

Republicans could also try to hold Rosenstein in contempt of Congress, if they want to go a step before impeachment.

Friday, Rep. Mark Meadows hinted once again Rosenstein attempted to obstruct oversight.

Ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page appeared on Capitol Hill Friday for a closed-door deposition.

Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows dropped a bombshell Friday afternoon and said it appears the DOJ is continuing their efforts to keep material facts and even witnesses from Congress.

Meadows tweeted
: Remarkably, we learned new information today suggesting the DOJ had not notified Lisa Page of Congress’ outstanding interview requests for over 7 months now. The DOJ/FBI appear to be continuing their efforts to keep material facts, and perhaps even witnesses, from Congress.

Rosenstein was defiant, smug and laughed off lawmakers during a recent Congressional hearing and refused to answer many pertinent Spygate questions.

The Deputy Attorney General has been working overtime to obstruct House conservatives from oversight while running offense for the Deep State with the Mueller witch hunt.

Both Mueller and Rosenstein are out of control and need to be prosecuted and thrown in prison.

Friday’s revelation the DOJ had not notified Lisa Page of Congress’ outstanding interview requests for over 7 months may be the last straw for GOP lawmakers; it’s way past time to get rid of Rod Rosenstein.

Ah, now we know the REAL reason Rosenweasel scrambled together a press conference on Friday parading his fictitious indictments in front of the fake news press.

Rosenweasel and "Bloodhound Bob" belong in the same cell.

Really?

It is more likely that they will try to hold Rosenstein in contempt of Congress
because they're all talk and no action.

The problem is when either chamber of Congress votes to hold an official in contempt,
the matter is referred to the DOJ for criminal prosecution.

So in other words, if the House votes to hold the deputy attorney general in contempt,
"They'd essentially be referring Rosenstein to himself." :Carcajada:

There is only one person who has the power to clean up this mess. Now the only question
is does he have the balls to do it?

The House impeaches Rosenweasel, and Trump says, "I've looked at the evidence and agree with the House investigation. You're fired!"

Reps. Mark Meadows (R-NC), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and other House Republicans introduced articles of impeachment against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on Wednesday.

Meadows and Jordan argued that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had problematic decision-making during the 2016 presidential campaign and failed to comply with House oversight requests. The House conservatives also chastised the DOJ and Rosenstein for withholding “embarrassing documents,” knowingly hiding information from Congress, abusing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) process, and “failure to comply with Congressional subpoenas.”

The Constitution empowers the House to impeach any officer of the executive or judicial branches. However, that only occurs in rare instances. The House only requires a simple majority of of the legislative chamber, or roughly 218 votes, to impeach a member of the executive or judicial branch. If the House were to impeach Rosenstein, then the Senate will require a two-thirds majority to remove him from office.

Jordan said in a statement on Wednesday, “The DOJ is keeping information from Congress. Enough is enough. It’s time to hold Mr. Rosenstein accountable for blocking Congress’s constitutional oversight role.”

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows said:

With Attorney General Sessions’ recusal, Rod Rosenstein has been in charge of the Department of Justice as the agency has made every effort to obstruct legitimate attempts of Congressional oversight. The stonewalling over this last year has been just as bad or worse than under the Obama administration.

Multiple times we’ve caught DOJ officials hiding information from Congress, withholding relevant documents, or even outright ignoring Congressional subpoenas—and now we have evidence that Mr. Rosenstein signed off on a document using unverified political opposition research as a cornerstone of a FISA application to spy on an American citizen working for the Trump campaign. This level of conduct, paired with the failure to even feign an interest in transparency, is reprehensible. And whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, this kind of obstruction is wrong—period.

For 9 months we’ve warned them consequences were coming, and for 9 months we’ve heard the same excuses backed up by the same unacceptable conduct. Time is up and the consequences are here. It’s time to find a new Deputy Attorney General who is serious about accountability and transparency.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) said:

Congress gave Mr. Rosenstein plenty of time to comply with our requests. We have been reasonable and up front with him. Unfortunately, at almost every opportunity, Mr. Rosenstein has resisted and defied Congress’s constitutional oversight. His time to obstruct our investigations has expired. Mr. Rosenstein’s Department is subject to constitutional checks and balances. I call on my colleagues to assert our constitutional responsibility and approve these articles of impeachment.

So far, the articles of impeachment have 11 cosponsors.

I'm going to go out on the limb and say the only way Rosenstein leaves his post is if he's fired.

The quitter speaks out.

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Thursday he does not support House conservatives'
efforts to impeach Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing
the special counsel Russia investigation, dismissing it as "not the right way to go."

"Do I support impeachment of Rod Rosenstein? No, I do not," Ryan, a Republican
from Wisconsin, told reporters on Capitol Hill Thursday.

Of course you don't. Why am I not surprised.

Do yourself a favor and embrace your leaving the House. Take long lunches, maybe
a nap here and there but for Christs sake, shut your pie hole.

The neutered one speaks out.

U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday defended his deputy, Rod Rosenstein,
and took a swipe at fellow Republicans in Congress who moved to impeach Rosenstein,
who oversees the federal probe of Russia's role in the 2016 presidential election.

"My deputy, Rod Rosenstein, is highly capable. I have the highest confidence in him,"
Sessions said during an appearance in Boston.
