In my opinion, he didn't win because he showed in the Belgium game he is still so immature with some of his antics and not worthy of the best player award, that's why they gave him best young player. These awards are very subjective , unlike the golden boot. I feel for you.

I get your point, and you make perfect sense.

But there is no way Modric was a better player throughout this tournament. They had Griezman ahead of him too. Ridiculous.

I'll settle for my +660 on France to win the tourney, but Mbappe would have been the icing. Still a good WC or me.

Modric was by far the best player in the tournament. Goals is not even close to everything. Croatia doesn't come close the final without Modric. Without Mbappe France probably still at least makes it to the final and probably still win it with their boring tactics.
