Does your local schools have a uniform policy for students?

Our recently went to it & their reasoning is they want all kids to feel equal.

Sorry but i disagree & say that's nonsense.

1. It's a school not a juvenile detention center

2. I'm sorry that some kids have parents that won't buy them nicer clothes but everyone else should not have to pay the price for a few

We're considering putting our daughter in homeschool as many more are doing lately...

There are schools down here that have a uniform policy.

Although i know some schools have an "opt out" policy where you dont have to wear a uniform.

saying its for equality just sounds like bullshit to me.

Oh i do think thats the reason.

Even before school starts they give a list of supplies to bring & it even says on the paper the amount of supplies exceeds what your child needs but the extra is for the kids who dont bring them/cant afford it.

The decision to go to uniforms is the same reason.

They don't want some kids wearing nice clothes while others wear crappy clothes.

Total BS

I've heard about this in NY, but I have seen it down in Florida for a couple of years now.
I don't think they are private schools that I saw all the kids wearing the same thing, but I'll have to ask my daughter because she's down there more

I'm an idiot i should have specified it being a dress code.

But the dress code only includes gray or navy blue shirts & 2 style/color of pants.

Still basically everyone being uniform in the way they dress.

Big fan of uniforms. Wore one 1st-12th (private school). Easier on parents and kids IMO.

most of florida for the same reason...now the low income families have to buy "school clothes" and regular outside clothes...so the parents have less for each set...so the kids loose out twice...the school unis have the school name on them so they cant wear them anywhere else...the rules apply to sweaters, jackets, shoes...everything...when i was little only private schools had unis...i guess the thinking has become "u cant afford to GO to a private school but u can look like u do" I think it sucks...all the same....BS

i should add that the school monograms are optional....so guess which kids dont get the monograms...yea...that makes them stand out...and once a week u can pay a dollar and skip the unis...so guess which students dont pay the dollar and are the only ones in unis?...right...their school moved this summer 2 miles to their own campus...but it crossed into another city...all the old unis with the old name?...right...no good..they can use them this year but there are none being sold with the old name...do you think the kids that show up with the old name will stand out? in their 1 year old clothes?

Still baffles me that the public school forces me to pay $55/a kid for their school supplies.

The kicker is that at the end of the school year, we get nothing back. So every year i have to buy a new set of scissors and 36 sharpened pencils and shit like that? Kills me

As long as the required uniform includes a M.A.G.A. hat, I am all for it.
