Why only 1 game today?

I remember after the all star break, all teams resumed play the Thursday after the all star game. In the past few years, all teams resumed play the Friday after the all star game as no games were played on Thursdays.

Just curious why there is a game scheduled for today? Was this a makeup game?

My thought it was a makeup game today. All those weather messed up games in April/May, this could easily have been one of them.

Actually the Make up game is July 21st

On July 21, the Cubs have a scheduled night game against the Cardinals, a Fox-TV “Baseball Night in America” game that will begin at 6:15 p.m. CT.
The usual rules for split doubleheaders apply; after the 12:05 p.m. game, the park will be cleared and a new ticket will be required for the regular 6:15 p.m. game. As usual, your ticket for tonight’s game will be valid for the makeup game. For other ticket questions regarding today’s postponement, contact the Cubs ticket office or Fan Services at 773-388-8270.
It should be warmer in Chicago by July 21, hopefully, maybe.
