[h=2]Michelle Obama and her celebrity pals Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Hanks enter 2018 election fight with new get-out-the-vote plan[/h]
  • We All Vote is a bipartisan effort to register more Americans to vote
  • But the bipartisan enterprise is stacked with Obama administration alumni
  • It launched today with a splashy video encouraging Americans to register
  • The video also featured singer Janelle Monáe, basketball player Chris Paul, and country stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw
Former first lady Michelle Obama and a cadre of her celebrity pals are wading into the 2018 election with a new initiative to increase voting numbers by registering Americans, particularly the youth.
Called We All Vote, it's a national effort to increase voter registration numbers around the country.
It's nonpartisan effort that has launched in time to affect the 2018 midterm elections, when Democrats are aiming to take back at least one chamber of Congress.

But the bipartisan enterprise is stacked with Obama administration alumni: former senior aide Valerie Jarrett is president of the board and former first lady chief of staff Tina Tchen is treasurer, according toPolitico.

Money is still being raised with an eye toward an $8 million budget.
It kicked off on Thursday with a splashy video that featured Obama enlisting her celebrity pals - like actor Tom Hanks and 'Hamilton' creator Lin-Manuel Miranda - to the cause.
All three are co-chairs of the campaign, as are singer Janelle Monáe, basketball player Chris Paul, and country stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, all of whom are featured in the video.

Can you help me get people registered?' Obama asks Miranda in the video's opening scene.
'I'm not throwing away my opportunity to have my voice heard this November,' Miranda says after reassuring the former first lady he is signed up to vote.
The former first lady encourages Americans to register and help get others signed up to vote.
'Our democracy and the country we love requires our attention, voice, and participation,' Obama says. 'When we all vote, we determine our future.'
Michelle Obama was always a highly-requested surrogate for Democratic candidates but a reluctant presence on the campaign trail.

Country stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have joined the former first lady's cause

Both she and her husband have taken a notable step back from the spotlight since leaving the White House. They have each been working on their memoirs - her book 'Becoming' comes out a week after the election - and been giving paid speeches.
The former first lady was visibly unhappy on inauguration day when Donald Trump replaced her husband in office.
His confrontation, combative style of streams of twitter insults is in direct opposition to her famous rallying cry from the 2016 Democratic convention: 'When they go low, we go high.'
Midterm elections tend to have lower vote turnout than presidential election years.
In the 2014 midterm elections, just 36.4 percent of eligible citizens voted - the lowest participation rate in midterms in 70 years.

Michelle and her 'celeb' friends, huh? It didn't work in 2016 it's not going to work now.
