Where does Le’Veon Bell play in 2019 ? And how much does he get paid?

Too early to list a team. I'd say he should've just taken the Steelers 5/70 with 2/30 upfront. No RB is gonna do too much better than that these days given the fungible nature of the position.

But if he can stay healthy and hit UFA then someone could pay him a lot. The best players in the NFL just never really hit UFA because of the franchise tag limitations.

I get guys wanting to see the day they get to hit UFA and gambling on themselves (Kirk Cousins) but this seems like a needless risk by Bell.

Seems like the 8th year is the cliff even for RB's that have elite aging.

Laidainian Tomlinson had 7 elite years. Lynch, AP, Charles (before torn ACL in week 6) all had good 8th years and all fell off a cliff after that. McCoy also had a great 8th year (feasting on bad opponents), was just OK last year. Steven Jackson had a good 9th year but not elite.

Everyone else I checked in the modern era fell off before that for elite RB's (unless the 3 people that read this post think I missed someone)

Only guy that had more sustained excellence than that was Gore in seasons 9 and 10, but you still wouldn't call him elite in those years.

And Bell's workload is/was significantly higher than many of these guys. Also, teams aren't as dumb as they used to be and keep giving "name" RB's 250+ carries late into their careers based on previous production like in the past.

i don't think he will touch the money the steelers just threw at him to DOUBLE the next highest paid RB. weed boy is just too stupid to see that every job in this world comes with a price tag and being paid 2x what the next person in the world is being paid to do the same job is an incredible opportunity.

he's on the decline and will notice it in free agency next year

That's a little deceiving because at this particular point in time, pretty much all of the other elite backs in the league are still on their rookie deals (Gurley, Zeke, Johnson, Kamara, Hunt)

If he has a regular L Bell type year then he'll likely do better than 4/55 and 2/30 upfront (subtracting the 15 he makes this yr), just seems like a needless risk. He's not gonna do wayyy better than it and there is always a ton of risk at RB.

Two teams who love signing veteran RBs are Oakland and the Jets.

Most people I’ve talked to around here don’t care. We want 1 more ball busting year out of him, then the cancer can leave

Didn't see terms of deal when I made this post. They only offered him like 10m guaranteed so he pretty much had to roll the dice on himself and just take the tag. Can't really say he made a mistake as Pitt seems like they just want to ride him this year and then let someone else pay him.

Given how few running backs stay elite beyond their 7-8th year, they probably just didn't want to pay him.

Raiders opening their stadium in LV with a star acquisition like Bell would make a lot of sense. Very Raiders thing to do.

Guy is playing his cards wrong

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell will not join the team for their Week 8 game against the Cleveland Browns. There had been a report a few weeks earlier that Bell would be back after the Week 7 bye. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport hinted on Monday that Bell may not join the team until after the October 30 trade deadline. Bell has missed all six of the Steelers’ games this season to show his displeasure over the lack of a long-term contract. James Conner will remain the team’s lead back in Week 8.
