I think the biggest reason for the demise of this team is some terrible head coaching choices. All of those alleged college football know-it-alls laughed at the hiring of Lane Kiffin, but only Butch Jones did better and they fired him. The fact is that Tennessee was NEVER a top tiered team. 11 different teams have defeated Alabama in the past 10 seasons. Tennessee was NOT one of those teams. 0-10. They are also 2-8 vs Florida. 3-7 vs Georgia. That is NOT a record for anything near a championship team. Tennessee has never been real good to begin with.
Tennessee won the 1998 Championship and went 13-0. Since then, they have never had a 0 or 1 loss season, and had one 2 loss season, that coming in 2001. Since 2008, Arkansas and Texas A&M have matched that, and Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Missouri, and South Carolina have all had more than one 2 loss or less seasons. That is NOT the record of a "Top Tier" team. Not when 9 out of 13 other teams in the Conference have a better record than you do in that respect. This is a problem with Tennessee fans. They think they used to always be good. They were not. They had good seasons, but they do not compare to many SEC teams.

Tenn is top 10 in wins in the 30's, 40's, 60's, 90's, and 00's. They've sucked since 2008 but most of us started watching college football before just 10 years ago.

Obviously you have no idea what a good team is. Discount the 30's and 40's because even though you act like an old Southern man, you are not that old. So basically you are saying that Tennessee had good teams in the 60's, 90's, and 00's. Meaning that they did NOT have good teams in the 50's, 70's, 80's, and ever since 2001. It is obvious that you have NO understanding at all of what makes a solid team year after year. Being an Alabama homer, you should. Is Tennessee one of the Top 15 teams overall? The next thing you will be telling me is that they are better than Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame, USC, and others.
