read on twitter people bitching about not being able to cash there phillies tickets the other day when it went 16 innings because the book closes and locks the vault at t 1am and the game was still on... i guess thats something the east coast books are going to have to adjust to, west coast games ending super late on the east coast

Just posted the story.

They need to stay open late because besides a late extra inning game, what about the Late CFB games ?? or the hawaii home game starts ?

The Meadowlands sportsbook is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., closing an hour later on Fridays and Saturdays and also opening an hour earlier on Saturdays and Sundays. Given this, on any Sunday-Thursday when there are late MLB games, there is a strong possibility that the book will officially close before those games conclude. In some instances, bettors there for the late games on Friday and Saturday may also be shut out, especially if the games go into overtime or extra innings.
This poses a problem, as bettors simply can’t cash their tickets at a casino cage, like they can in Las Vegas. One solution may be for the cashiers to remain open until the last game concludes, but that solution is also laden with difficulties, as what if a contest runs until 4 a.m.?

they cannot afford to keep someone on at $11 an hour or whatever it is?

Some patrons at the Meadowlands Racetrack last night were caught unaware of the fact that the sports betting windows close at 1 a.m. sharp five nights a week.
“The FanDuel Sportsbook’s business hours of operation last night were to 1 AM, as clearly posted throughout the facility. Once 1 AM hits, our cages are closed. We cannot take wagers or pay out wagers after that time.
“To be clear, there was no issue with cash on hand. All customers are welcome to return today to collect any winnings, or to mail in any winning tickets for payment.”
This is just a relatively minor example of inevitable growing pains — here, in part, because unlike at a 24/7 Las Vegas casino, there is no horse racing going on at that hour so there is nowhere to go.

The Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, New Jersey, collected $3.5 million in bets during the first nine days after its sportsbook opened, much of which happened during a uniquely slow period on the sports calendar.

Funny thing is Dodgers - Phillies game was in Philadelphia, not on west coast.

It's a standalone book. It presents some problems. Was Monmouth open when the game was over to cash tickets. The books have to make a decision to leave a cashier on hand till all the West Coast games are over. What do they about West Coast NHL playoff games if they go to three OT's or college football games at night from out West.

Exactly! I don't see any problem with books closing at 1am ......go back the next day or a few days later & collect your money.

Everyone will adjust...

Sportbook /players -will have to figure it out

Delaware Park is only open from 11am to 11pm Which seriously limits action and cashing every day They DO not SEEM to care!!!!
In fact they are now closing the racebook section at 11pm as well when it used to stay open till racing ended .......JOKE!!!

I think Borgata also closes at 11pm
don't get it!!!!

There is also a rush (lines) from 6:00 to 7:00 pm each night when betting is heavy
they need to add tellers during peak time

Hope someone in management figures this out !!!!

I'm sure the complaints came from New York guys because this is the closest point from NY and they probably weren't looking to pay the Bridge to come back
