Can anyone tell me why Trump is flying around the country campaigning?

Doesn't everyone hate him? Aren't politicians trying to distance themselves from him?

Of course, the better question is, why are politicians trying to latch on to his coattails?

Can it be that the left has it 1,000% WRONG? yet again?

Hope you’re right roadreeler. Many seem to believe, even on some conservative news sources, that the Demoncats will more likely take over the House. Citing that the looney libs are really really “motivated”. Could it be they are just looking at historical trends and underestimating the drive and determination of the Trump supporters?

Or the looney libs are just that confident they can rig some of these elections and find some “extra” votes to get the House back.

Trump was in Florida yesterday.

He was campaigning for Rick Scott (our current governor is who is running for senate). He is running against a LONGTIME senator who is a democrat. I think a bad endorsement for Scott would have looked bad for Scott while a good endorsement tells the Trump backers that "we like this guy".

The governor race is wide open. Trump wanted to tell his backers on which republican to vote for. (Note: I am not a lover or hater of our current POTUS). I am actually happy that Trump did NOT endorse the Republican who i am not a fan of

We know democrats are going to win their blue cities by very wide margins, and that won't change a thing in DC. What Democrats need to do is win back some of middle america, and I don't see how their message resonates with those people

the democratic base can be motivated, they win the Bronx and Chicago and Detroit and LA and DC by huuuuuuuuge margins, who cares.

The Republican base is always motivated, except when they choose to stay home because their candidate lied to them, Bush 41, or their candidate just doesn't excite them, as in McCain or Romney or the likes of a Roy Moore

Poll after poll shows we republicans love Trump, we love his policies, and thus we'll turn out in November. I think they'll hold on to the House although they may lose seats and they'll gain in the Senate

It seems to me it falls into the category of "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it,
people will eventually come to believe it."

You need to look no further than the last presidential election. Everyone without exception had the Granny winning.

It just never ends...

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by 7 percentage points
in a head-to-head match-up, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.

A plurality of registered voters, 44 percent, said they’d choose Biden in the 2020
presidential election, while 37 percent of voters said they would vote for Trump.

I haven't begun to look at any of the races yet since I try to follow politics as little as possible but I probably will soon as I'd like to bet some money on them.

1st midterm after a new Presidential win is usually bad for the incumbent party since 1960. Exceptions being 1962 (Kennedy had very high approval ratings at the time and the Dems multi-decade reign in the senate/house was just beginning) and 2002 (Surge around incumbent party after 9/11, patriotism, etc) and 1978 (no clue, someone can feel free to explain this to me. Perhaps Nixon's stench was still on the GOP?)

All of the other times the out of power party has picked up seats. I think it'll basically come down to immigration, if Trump/GOP just cuck out then the base that propelled him might stay home, if he just goes hard in the paint on that issue then GOP should do well. But that's just my initial read, haven't looked into it much.

There was an exception right on our board.

Thank you akphidelt for the 2g bet.

Nothing is going to keep Trump's base home. We love the guy. Or should I say that we are ecstatic that someone is finally fighting for what we believe in. And against the swamp creatures that we hate.

Realistically, I think the GOP gains in the Senate but barely holds on in the House, although it will be close. Like Patsfan says, first election for a new president is historically bad.

I hope Trump's base is getting angrier and angrier at this Russia witch hunt and surprises the fake news media yet again!

If you asked me a year ago and told me there wasn’t much traction on immigration, I would’ve said that’s gonna be tough sledding for GOP. But between the Dems being so wild and reckless and the economy as good as at any point in the 21st century by most metrics, probably a bigger margin for error than was previously thought.

I think I saw GOP is around +130 to hold house, sounds like a good bet. Not as good as Mayweather to KO McGregor but value nonetheless.

One thing I would find funny if it wasn't so pathetic is how all these talking heads pour on with their dogmas about what is the correct pathway politically. I was watching FBN and they had a roundtable where every single person (mostly GOP leaning) came to the conclusion that you can't shut down the government on the eve of the mid-terms because it will "look bad" and voters will "blame the party that is responsible for the shutdown"

Of all the dumb rules in the political sphere, this has to be up there. Like funding the government in the short-term is some sacrilegious 3rd rail that no one can touch because legislative cooperation is the most important thing in the country at any given time, bar none.

What if one party wants to have open borders? what if one party wants to surrender Hawaii to China after they invaded them? Could you shut down the government for that?

There was a shutdown in 2013 which resulted in Republicans picking up seats in the Senate in 2014.

Well if they don't then they only have themselves to blame. If I have a criticism of conservatives it's that by and large
they are content with where they are in life and tend to become complacent.
