[h=1]William Hill Expanding To Mississippi, WV For Sports Betting; Hints At Plans For 14 More States[/h]
Dustin Gouker, Aug 3, 201

This is a developing story and will be updated.

William Hill US joined the party in announcing a path to expansion of sports betting in new states around the country.

Will Hill announced on Friday that it signed sports betting agreements with 11 casinos in Mississippi and one in West Virginia.

According to Will Hill, it “will provide sports betting risk management services and its proprietary technology for both retail and on-premises mobile sports betting” for the casinos.

“We have built on our existing business in Nevada which is number one and growing and in Delaware where we are risk manager for the entire state,” CEOPhilip Bowcock said. “We are now the early market leader in New Jersey where our mobile app will launch within weeks and we expect to be market leader in Mississippi with these eleven casino agreements. The team continue to engage in discussions that cover a further fourteen states and they are doing a tremendous job.”

The company is already involved with sports gambling in Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. It took the first legal bet in NJ sports betting via a sportsbook at Monmouth Park.

“We have had a great start in New Jersey and our team is working hard to launch our mobile product there, as well as getting ready to go live in Mississippi, West Virginia and elsewhere, subject to regulatory approval,” William Hill CEO Joe Asher said. ” There is a lot happening and we are very proud of our team.”

The most interesting part of the press release was this nugget:

The company is also in discussions with operators about sports betting deals that would cover a further fourteen US states.

It’s not clear who the partner for that deal might be. Regional casino operator Eldorado Resorts operates in a number of states and mentioned its excitement about the vertical in this week’s earnings call. Will Hill already works with Eldorado in Nevada.

The additional states could encompass deals with more than one gaming company.

We also learned that William Hill will likely be involved in Rhode Island sports betting.

IGT was the only bidder to provide sports betting for the state. Will Hill “will supply its operational expertise, risk management, and trading data to support the operation of sports betting in the state” if the IGT bid is accepted.

Where in Mississippi will you find Will Hill in charge of sports betting? The company listed five of the casinos:

  • [*=1]Hard Rock Casino Hotel & Casino Biloxi
    [*=1]Island View Casino Resort (Gulfport)
    [*=1]Palace Casino (Biloxi)
    [*=1]Treasure Bay Casino (Biloxi)
    [*=1]WaterView Casino (Vicksburg)
It did not name the six other casinos where it would offer Mississippi sports betting. Will Hill said it would be live at all of them “by the end of August.”

William Hill had little in the way of details about its entry point for WV sports betting. It cited a “soon-to-be-announced casino partner.”

There are only five casinos that can offer sports wagering in West Virginia. Only one deal — between the Greenbrier and FanDuel Group — has been announced to date.

[h=2]You get a sports betting deal, and you get a sports betting deal…[/h]
Earlier this week, companies involved in online sports betting — Scientific Games, FanDuel Group and GVC –– all were part of deals of their own.

On Thursday night, FanDuel announced a partnership with Boyd Gaming that could put FanDuel Sportsbook in more than a dozen states down the road.
