President Donald Trump reacted Friday to NFL player demonstrations during the national anthem on Thursday night, saying that "a football game ... is no place to protest" and calling for players who protest to be suspended without pay.

In Miami, Dolphins players Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson knelt behind teammates who lined up standing along the sideline. Defensive end Robert Quinn stood and raised his right fist, as he did during the anthem last season while with the Los Angeles Rams.

Elsewhere, Jaguars Telvin Smith, Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon were not on the field when the anthem was played before their home game against New Orleans, and team officials said it would be up to the players to explain why they weren't on the field. The players joined the rest of their teammates several moments later. In Baltimore, both teams stood, but while most of the Ravens lined up shoulder to shoulder on the sideline, second-year linebacker Tim Williams stood alone in front of the bench with his back toward the field. And in Seattle, Seahawks Branden Jackson, Quinton Jefferson and Duane Brown ran into the tunnel leading to the team's locker room before the playing of the anthem.

Early Friday, Trump responded on Twitter.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
The NFL players are at it again - taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem. Numerous players, from different teams, wanted to show their “outrage” at something that most of them are unable to define. They make a fortune doing what they love......

.....Be happy, be cool! A football game, that fans are paying soooo much money to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest. Most of that money goes to the players anyway. Find another way to protest. Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay!

Trump has been a frequent critic of the demonstrations. He has called for the NFL to discipline players who protest during the anthem, including as recently as last month, when he tweeted, "First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!"

The league and the players' union have yet to announce a policy for this season regarding demonstrations during the anthem after the league initially ordered everyone to stand on the sideline when "The Star-Spangled Banner'' is played, or remain in the locker room.

"There has been no change in the NFL's policy regarding the national anthem," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement issued Thursday night. "The anthem will continue to be played before every game, and all player and non-player personnel on the field at that time are expected to stand during the presentation of the flag and performance of the anthem. Personnel who do not wish to do so can choose to remain in the locker room.

"We remain committed to working with the players to identify solutions and to continue making progress on important social issues affecting our communities."

Not if it happens to be about Sports puff_>>

You are kidding right?

The offshore isn’t all sports related though. If it is, it’s titles like these..... “Do you know any black pitchers?” “Is it possible Nfl players are getting dumber?” “Who are the laziest players?” “Who are the white trash players?” That’s hardly sports related. You condone that though lmao.

How can you say as long as it’s sports related and then allow countless threads about school shootings, anything pro trump, And other silly threads. When this section is the only section Shitmaker partakes in you know damn well almost none of his threads have to do with sports. They are all about a different topic, usually race, and the sport is just the subtopic. But it’s all good to you.

The second I post any political thread, it goes into the political forum in a heart beat. And it was a comedy skit. Guarantee you if someone posted an SNL skit it would stay put. But the shit I like is exposing dumbass senseless politicians, and it’s not acceptable here lol

Since BAs wants to keep making these threads....I will propose a question to the people who said Kaepernick wasn’t good enough to play in the league and that it wasn’t a blackball situation. I ask this..... is Eric Reid good enough to play in the league? Hmmmmm. Your argument really has gone to shit now since Eric Reid is out of the league. Time to “take the L” like Griezmanns fortnite dance

whats funny is how many people here said Kaep wasn’t good enough.....those people needed Eric Reid to be in the league for their arguments to be valid LMFAOOOOO. Not gonna call anybody out by name but I know who they are. They know I know who they are.

Some pro athletes like to put their stupidity on display. Protesting something that hardly has any relevance in today’s time by comparison.

I said he and Reed and anyone else who disrespects what the flag and the anthem mean to so many, need to be blackballed. Trump says the same thing.

Some things are more important than other things. Respect for the country that gave you the opportunity to get fabulously rich is more important than any damned player.

So we are also going to take the Dallas Cowboys away from Jerry Jones to right? cause the last time I saw the anthem being played he was talking to his son and had his hat on while it was playing. Or is this more of a do as I say not as I do type situation?

ANYONE who INTENTIONALLY disrespects the flag is a clueless ingrate.

First off I Posted the article and I'm not saying I Totally agree with Trump, AGAIN I am NOT a Trump fan.

But this really needs to Stop. Plus I'll say it again what I said last year. You want to protest, Reach in Your pocket and take out an AD, a Billboard, a commercial
to get your message out there. Why do this during the National Anthem which is disrespectful to OUR Country and the Men and Women who served OUR Country
AND which you are being PAID ... with the Help of the Fan base

Oh I'm on board. I'm for the players standing for the anthem. I mean i really don't care but i'd rather they stand then knell. I just find it hypocritical that nobody gives two shits when Jerry Jones disrespects the flag/ anthem. Why is that? Players do it and its a pages long thread on this forum. Jerry Jones does it and I'm not sure its even brought up on this site. To me Jones is far worse cause he's the one out there stumping that he is all patriotic, which we all know he isn't.

I really never noticed Jones with his Hat on or talking while the Anthem is being played as I'm not even sure the last time I watched a Cowboys game.
But I will admit that in the past I have seen some people talking during the Anthem when I was at games, but they weren't loud.

back in 2002 I remember being at a Yankees?Mets game and a guy was sitting and wearing a Hat during the Anthem, and a few of us turned around and told him to get Up and take off his Hat. Guy said sorry, and that he lost track of time ( I think he was a couple of sheets under the wind ) But he did get up and take off his hat.

Jones being on the field most of the time should respect the Flag.

This was literally like a week and change ago. Far after Jones made all his comments about his players must stand blah blah shit. He stood there at practice with his hat on and his son even said to him hey, take off your hat. He still didn't take that shit off. It was literally barely mentioned if at all. I saw nothing on espn about it. Fox sports did have a small segment with skip and shannon sharpe where they talked about it. I don't really remember it being a topic at all on this board. Just find it comical we only care if the players disrespect the flag. We all know damn well that at any game we are at that 10% of the fans don't give two shits. They are not paying attention or on their phones ect. You can literally see 100's of people at any game ever just walking the halls of the stadiums, buying their beers while the anthem is playing. Like i said, I really don't care what the players do. I'd rather they stand but i wish we could stop the hypocracy and only care when its the players and no one else if thats the stance we are taking.

The fact is Jerry Jones is super patriotic............. when the camera is on him. He doesn't give a fuck when he thinks no one is watching.

I don't think anyone said he wasn't good enough to play (I'm sure a few people who got all in their feelings did but it wasn't any type of consensus opinion) but rather he wasn't good enough to protest, alienate a large portion of the fan base and still keep his job.

Some things are more important than other things. Respect for the country that gave you the opportunity to get fabulously rich is more important than any damned player.

Except them kneeling for the flag, doesn't make them love America or less American than and of us that are pretending to be such patriots and so offended by them kneeling. Some of you keep focusing on the fact that they are kneeling rather than WHY they are kneeling. There are bigger problems in the country than some PEACEFUL protests by players.

Having said that, I really wish they wouldn't and I hate Kaepernick for starting this. I want to tune into sports and forget everything else. It's supposed to be what brings all colors and people together and now it's all muddled.

Whatever, I love the NFL and will tun in every Sunday, Monday and whatever day it is on. I'm not happy about the kneeling but I can understand why they are doing it and don't hate them for it. I'm just irritated that our president Donald is so petty worrying about these trivial little things.

What classless president in the history of this country has ever been involved in these immature, petty, low brow twitter wars or let people get a rise out of him so easily? No class.

I've seen tons of people sitting and munching away on food, or wearing hats, or yapping away, scratching their balls , using the Anthem as a time to go to the washroom etc. Anything but standing for the Anthem.

How about people stop worrying about the act of standing for the anthem and worry about being REAL patriots. Pretending you're all offended by them kneeling. give me a break.

You ever watch these players before the PEACEFUL and HARMLESS protests started? They stood for the anthem proudly and were holding back tears. You think they don't love their country? You think they like having to kneel? They are not any less patriotic or American than any of you pointing fingers at them. You guys just saw an opportunity to point fingers and took it. We all know that you aren't anymore patriotic or American than any of those players. So don't kid yourselves.

I don't like this protesting business but I support them nonetheless. When I'm at a game I will simply ignore it. Won't support it won't speak out against it. I love the NFL and they aren't hurting anybody. At least people are talking about it so it accomplished something.
