Verbal abuse hurled at NYPD in yet another videotaped tirade

Cops are increasingly being subjected to vicious verbal abuse on New York City streets — and doing next-to-nothing about it — because of a hands-off policy that’s being preached from the top, law enforcement sources told The Post.

In the latest in a string of caught-on-video examples of brazen disrespect and abuse toward cops, a group of six uniformed officers is subjected to an NYPD blue-tirade hurled by a man who had fit the description of a suspect but turned out not to be their man.

The cops allowed the 20-year-old to videotape himself going on an offensive, foul-mouthed tirade against them for nearly 5 minutes before one of the officers finally did something despite all but one of his fellow cops walking away, the video shows.

Some law-enforcement sources said the incident once again illustrates the ridiculous hands-off approach that officers have been trained in.

“Your hands are tied,’’ a source said.

Christian Roman, of Staten Island, launched into his verbal assault on the cops around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, after he was stopped and searched near Fifth Avenue and 53rd Street in Sunset Park because police said he matched the description of a suspect with a gun.

“S–k my d–k!” Roman shouts repeatedly at the officers from the 72nd Precinct. “Tell your daughter to come see me to s–k this d–k! F—-t!”

The officers mostly ignored his comments, although one cop who identified himself by the surname Chan stopped several times to calmly ask Roman to cut out the graphic language.

“If you keep yelling obscenities like this, you’re going to get a summons for disorderly conduct,” Chan warned.

Roman kept running his mouth, so Chan eventually broke out the handcuffs.

Roman was arrested, given a summons for disorderly conduct at the 72nd Precinct station house and released, according to NYPD officials.

“I got a little angry,” Roman told The Post on Sunday. “Every time I’ve been running into police, it’s been bad vibes. I don’t know what it is that I did wrong. I’ve been in trouble before. I’m a young kid, I make mistakes. I don’t got no felonies. I’m not no crazy person. I finished high school.”

The cringe-inducing encounter is just the latest example in recent weeks of civilians going on abusive tirades against cops with near-total impunity.

An Aug. 8 incident also caught on tape showed police doing virtually nothing as several Bronx residents hurled obscenities at them while they responded to a 911 call in the building.

“You p—y!” the cameraman shouts at one point in the footage. “S–k my d–k!”

“Get the f–-k out my building!” yells another resident.

The incident left the department so red-faced that brass later reprimanded the officers for not standing up for themselves, sources said.

“Listen, you can take police action,” the cops were told, according to a source who added that higher-ups “should go to every precinct and do that.

“The only time they come around is when there’s a big shooting,’’ the source said. “They don’t come for words of encouragement. All they care about is keeping their cushy positions.”

Cops cannot even keep the peace in their own station houses.

In yet another shocking video posted to Instagram on Tuesday, a man barked insults at a sergeant inside the 28th Precinct.

“Sgt. Lopez, he can s–k a big fat f–-king d–-k,” the cameraman says, according to the video. “Shut the f-–k up, b—h.”

The scene actually got the NYPD to change its policy so civilians can no longer use recording devices inside police stations.

Disrespect for cops has gotten so bad that Sergeants Benevolent Association Ed Mullins sent a letter to Police Commissioner James O’Neill last week blasting him for the “lawlessness and complete lack of respect for police officers that has been so blatant under your tenure.”

This is just unbelievable. I would lose my job the first day if I was a cop or teacher. Not sure how we have fallen so far, so fast as a society but no one should be subject to that type of behavior. I just wanna jack one of those punks up against the wall just to see how bad they really are. Xanax must be part of the cop's daily routine

ironically these are the people that hate America. But if they tried talking to police in many other countries this way, we would be seeing an epic beatdown. kth)(&^

I was thinking the same thing. These snowflake conservatives are so sensitive...

Oh the irony, from the demographic of professional victims, the demographic that riots destroying other peoples' property, the demographic that physically threatens and assaults people who have a different political opinion, the demographic that seeks to shut down opposing voices, and the demographic that even attacks law enforcement all in the name of being offended by something

Youse just can't make this shit up
