Presently have Cox Cable. Have all the channels, most of the movie channels, Red Zone & MLB two sports packages important to me. We presently use on demand quite a bit, especially my wife

I've decided I'm tired of paying $ 350 per month. If I can save $ 200+ per month that's real money.

So what should I do?

I want local channels. I want lots of station options, I want MLB and Red Zone, I want HBO and movie options, I want fast internet, and I want to pay a lot less

Help me please

TIA

Try upgrading to Gigabit Internet. You might get a big discount for two years. I did with Verizon Fios and my bill dropped around $37 a month. Obviously at the end of two years I might have to go back to 50/50 speed but I saved around $900. Cox offers it in CT. They are really pushing it hoping with a low introductory price you will stay with it. I have full package with Verizon. All channels plus all the movie channels, Red Zone is included. Phone and Internet. I was paying $259. If they have another cable company in your town. The best thing to do is switch if they offer what you want. You can never beat the first two years as subscriber. If FIOS wasn't offering Gigabit the best they can offer to retain you if give you a $5 or $10 a month discount if you sign for another two years. I had Comcast before but my Internet kept cutting out and they never fixed it. I am very happy with FIOS.

We just watch premiums or series which are already being paid for, no additional fees for on demand except for maybe two new movies a year

The issue is the overall cost of basic services we want

Willie,

How tech savvy are you?

(i personally dont do this) I have many friends who have told me that they "cut the cord" and pay for netflix, hulu, and are able to stream a bunch of things.

If you have a smart tv, there are many apps as well that you can use.

Maybe get a faster internet service so you can have better and faster streams?

I personally cant do this as i would love to save $$ but this would drive me bat bleep crazy

a jail broke Fire stick works as well.
The only thing is no local channels

so the way to go is cut the cord by getting Basic cable, Internet, then use the Fire stick for everything else.
I have 2 fire sticks and it works great, but I only downgraded a tier down. Saving only $57 a month
one day i will cut the cord

I pay $63 a month fees and all for Internet only. The box I have gets Netflix,Live local TV,and any movie or tv show ever made, not to mention every single NFL, MLB, and CFB game. It gets every game in every sport really. Heck, I even get local PPV fights and boxing matches, music, games, you name it. Ordering another one tonight as a matter of fact. I tossed my Firestick in the drawer, it comes nowhere close to these things...

It is actually. Newest box is called Hustle. His Customer Service is second to none, always available by text, and will spend a couple hours overtaking your box and walking you through everything if needed). There’s also a private FB page for support. The box gets updated every two weeks or so, but it’s literally takes pressing two buttons and waiting for a 1-3 min tops. I will add about live tv that my local news isn’t on there, couldn’t careless though, so I watch a channel from a bigger city about 1.5hrs away, but for guys near big cities, I’m sure you’re watching the same. I think it’s awesome that I can get local PPVs from regional fights and events. Currently watching LLWS as I type this...

I love the “24/7” section for my little daughters she really loves certain cartoons, so you turn it to that channel and it plays that cartoon for you guessed it “24/7” nonstop. No stopping or hiccups to switch episodes. It has 100s of those channels for even old stuff like Takes from the crypt, The Sopranos, you name it.

I like that the remote is like a real tv remote with volume and everything too. You can stop and pause as well. Even have a phone remote...

I’ve been using one of them boxes from the rx guy as well. It’s the cavi model , the new boxes they offer even have voice remote and everything . I run it off of wifi, I get buffering issues sometimes , but if I ran an Ethernet cable directly to it I’d have no issues at all . Them boxes are dynamite! Everybody I’ve shown it to’s minds were blown by all the content. I’m streaming movie theatre movies at the press of a button

Yep yep, I have the older one as well before the Cavi, but I guess I’ll be getting the Hustle this go round. It took me almost 10 months to get my girl to finally cancel cable, but it’s been a little over a month now and she says she’s so glad she did (made her pay the bill when all I used is the box, lol).

the cartoon options are sick. One of the channels has pretty much every cartoon made in the history of man kind , it’s actually overwhelming lol
