Why the White Sox on Thursday at +175...the southside sox playing great baseball right now, winning five out of their last seven and taking two of three from the Yankees on the road. The Sox return home and will hand the ball to Lucas Giolito. On the surface, Giolito has been terrible this year, posting a 5.85 era and an abysmal 8.18 era at home. Over his last six starts, with two coming at home against the Blue Jays and Yankees, Giolito saw his era drop to 5.15 which obviously isn't anything to write home about, but it does show that he is trending in the right direction. In his last start against the Tigers, Lucas allowed 1 run (solo HR) over 7 IP on 3 H, 6 Ks and 1 BB. Another positive for Giolito is that his velocity has been playing up in the second half of the season, with season high numbers posted in his last start. With zero exposure to this Red Sox lineup, this is a valuable spot to back Lucas G at home. The Red Sox have finally hit their slump this season, playing inconsistent baseball as losers of six out of their last ten games. After a strange two game series against the Marlins, the Red Sox hit the road to open an extended road trip. Rick Porcello will toe the rubber for Boston, who has regressed of late, posting a 4.26 era over his L19 IP on 4 HRs. Taking a look at Porcello's splits, LHH can get to Ricky, with 13 HRs over 77 IP. With the White Sox penciling in a heavy left handed hitting lineup, that could spell trouble for Rick who has allowed 7 HRs over 70 IP on the White Sox home turf. Taking Abreu and his 18 ABs out of the lineup, the White Sox have a combined 81 ABs against Porcello with a .280 BA. White Sox pen with the advantage over their L14 Days posting a 2.59 era, compared to the Red Sox 4.03 era. White Sox 0-9 as a home dog of +175 or higher; here comes 1-9.
