List of Major League Baseball 100 win seasons

Over the course of 126 seasons (from 1892 through 2017), 102 teams have won 100 or more games in a single Major League Baseball season. While this makes the feat a relatively common occurrence, the 100-win threshold remains the hallmark of the best teams in a given season.

While there have been 23 seasons with two or more 100-win teams, only six seasons have seen three teams finish above the 100-win threshold in the same season.
1942:

104 wins with 9 games to go. It was nice to celebrate at Yankee stadium. Though the Red Sox fan that thought it would be a good idea to get drunk and ride the top of a subway car home, didn't fare so well.

</header>[FONT=&quot]A 24-year-old Boston Red Sox fan died on the train ride home from Wednesday night's game at Yankees Stadium when he was electrocuted while attempting to climb atop a train car.
According to the New York Post, a Red Sox fan was riding the Metro-North train from Yankee Stadium when he attempted to climb on top of the New Haven Connecticut-bound train. According to the Post, Michael Vigeant of Hudson, New Hampshire made contact with an overhead catenary wire, electrocuting him and trapping riders in the train for over two hours.
According to lohud.com, Vigeant's brother tried to climb atop the train car as well, but was pulled down by a conductor. Lohud.com also reports that first responders attempted to resuscitate Vigeant, who was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, the incident left the late-night train disabled for a prolonged period.
From the New York Post:
"The conductor called out over the loudspeaker for medical professionals to help the man as the power to the train went down, knocking out the air conditioning and flush toilets, riders said. Meanwhile, riders, many of whom had been drinking at the game, got more and more agitated. Some threatened to kick out the windows, and Yankee and Red Sox fans started beefing with each other."
The incident occurred following the Red Sox's Wednesday night loss to the Yankees.
