Just throwing an idea out there.

Would people be interested in collaborating to make plays? One thing I've noticed in my time here is that a lot of similar-level cappers, who all have some degree of success, have very different paths to that success.

I've considered my time posting formally here since June successful in terms or profit, though it's mainly been just baseball plays so far. I feel like I have a very unique approach to betting. My bets are primarily on underdogs, resulting in my W/L record being a lot less "impressive" than other profitable bettors here. But I am able to be successful because I use the concept of "chasing" to my advantage, often leading to the gains of my wins being greater than the deficits of my losses.

I believe I'm good at managing money, finding value, and determining proper risk on wagers. I want to collaborate with people whose strengths are more centered around higher accuracy in picking games, who may not focus as much on the risk/reward component of betting. I feel like a collaboration of those types of bettors could yield really successful results.

I'm not sure what the end result of a collaboration would look like: how many people, what sports, etc., but I think having multiple good bettors work together could only be a good thing.

sounds that way.

if you look at a few threads in the College football forum, they had a couple going where people just posted what they saw the week before and what they thought about an up coming game.

I used to run one in the NFL forum, and probably will again, but I usually wait after the 2nd week

In the end what you're looking for is a consensus, correct?

Kind of.

I'm talking more of a blend of "consensus" picking, with some people who focus more on risk amount/money management than picking the games (a strength of someone like me). I don't want to make consensus picks then flat bet on those picks.

For example, a group of good cappers find a consensus on two different games.

Then someone like me decides how much to place on each game, and find where the best value for those picks are offered.

What do you do when your chase system keeps losing and you run out of money? But then you might have an endless bankroll. All the chasers I know are broke or their bookie is chasing them.

I wouldn't propose any chase system. People who chase for the sake of chasing generally don't do well.

When I say chase, I mean recognizing that you may be due after a cold streak and being a little more aggressive. That's generally how I determine risk amount. I know that winners are coming after a 2-6, 1-7 kind of skid. I also think a deep bankroll should be required for any sort of routine betting.

You should probably read up on gamblers fallacy as it relates to regression to the mean. What you're saying isn't true.

Each event being an independent event doesn’t completely overhaul the existence of some regression to the mean.

Gamblers often don’t succeed because they dont understand how to chase. They think chasing is following a single team until they buck a trend.

There is no guarantee that you bounce back from a cold streak, but it is more likely than normal that you perform better in following events. It’s irresposonble to say “I’m due”, like so many bettors do, but there is regression.

I make money betting because the average absolute value of my wins is over 50% greater than the average absolute value of my losses. And many of my larger bets strategically after cold fronts. It doesn’t always work, but the odds are more in your favor than an average day.

Make your larger bets on your best plays. Not based on recent results of other games that have nothing to do with those plays.

Consensus section wouldn't do any good to be honest. As you have both good and bad cappers here Getting a consensus would probably be a negative. You will always have more bad than good cappers. Now, If you could find the top ten people for each sport and have a consensus with them, it is different. Or you could simply follow people here who are known to be good.

I think a Consensus of some kind is a good thing. Most posters are Squares, so you can really get a feel for things.

I usually post a Poll for Thursday, Sunday and Monday Night games, and I think it works good.
Last nights game showed me early on almost 80% were on the Giants, so I bought back almost 3/4's of my early during the week wager.
