Hue Jackson watched some film of Thursday night's win but still isn't ready to name a starting quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns' coach said he would take his time deciding between Baker Mayfield and Tyrod Taylor.

"Yeah I think until I'm able to talk to the players will I officially say where I am with that," Jackson said during a Friday conference call. "I've given the players the weekend off obviously, so I'm going to take my time because I have some time and I'm going to get an opportunity to meet with them here Monday morning and kind of go from there."

Mayfield is going to have to win despite this guy being the head coach. :ohno:

What is so dumb about it? It's not a normal week for the Browns. They have nine days off and don't practice until Monday. Teams usually announce QB changes the Monday or Tuesday after a Sunday game. The Browns played Thursday. Everyone knows Mayfield is going to start. Maybe Jackson wanted to show a little respect or whatever to Taylor before benching him. I don't know. But I don't see this as dumb, just the opportunity to wait and announce it next week, when the normal practice schedule resumes.

It has to be Mayfield. Hands down. Even Hue knows that. I would think.

I would be fine if Jackson came out and just said that he was not going to announce his decision till next week. Instead Jackson said that he was going to talk it over with some players and take his time deciding who will be the starting quarterback. What the hell is there to decide? Where or not to use the quarterback that might save your job? Stupid.

Buffalo needs Tyrod back anyways. It's a win-win.

We'll probably see the same nonsense in Tampa when Winston's suspensu is up.

Boils down to general managers and/or head coaches drafting or going after a player they like, and afraid to give up on & not facing the fact they were wrong...

I agree with you Angel. Folks making more out of this than needs to be. We all KNOW Mayfield will start at QB, there is no reason Jackson needs to announce anything yet.

It'll hype up viewership on talk shows and programs, and allow Browns fans to have their day discussing this controversy, and more money will be made with uniform jersey sales, and coach will be viewed as politically correct, not embarrassing Tyrod, and you better pronounce his name correctly....

It's money that matters, in the USA..$$$$..

I don't see any problem with this. Would actually expect any other head coach to handle it the same way. He will announce Baker as the starter to the team and then the everyone else will be filled in.
