Texas superintendent resigns after racist remark toward Texans' Deshaun Watson

[FONT=&quot]A Texas superintendent who wrote you “can’t count on a black quarterback” on a Facebook post about Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson resigned less than a week after the screenshots surfaced.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]The Onalaska Independent School District Board of Education accepted superintendent Lynn Redden’s resignation during a special meeting Saturday morning, according to ABC 13 in Houston.“As an educator, this experience has taught me that I still have a lot to learn,” Redden wrote in his resignation letter to board president Ted Wiggins.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“My comments were not only uninformed but also hurtful and I understand now why they were offensive to so many people.”Onalaska is approximately 100 miles north of Houston. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, the school district serves approximately 1,000 students, the majority of whom are white.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Redden’s comments happened Monday on a Facebook post by the Houston Chronicle. The newspaper posted a meme that referenced Watson holding the ball during the final seconds of the Texans’ 20-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“That may have been the most inept quarterback decision I’ve seen in the NFL,” Redden wrote. “When you need precision decision making you can’t count on a black quarterback.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Parents in the district were angry and Onalaska ISD posted to its Facebook page saying the district does not condone the negative comments or actions of any race, adding it will take the appropriate measures to address the situation expeditiously and completely.[/FONT]

[FONT=&quot]“I don’t think he needs to be in that position he’s in,” said Jeremy Watts, a parent and firefighter, told ABC 13. “That’s why we have to deal with stuff all the time because people make comments like that. It’s horrible, it’s disgusting.”[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]The Houston resident Redden was replying to on the thread took a screenshot and sent it to the Chronicle. Redden thought he was making a private comment and deleted it when he realized it was public.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]He told the Chronicle this week he “wish it had never been posted” and said he didn’t intend for it to come across racist. He said he was referring to the “limited success” black NFL quarterbacks have had in the NFL.[/FONT]

Right. Cause white QBS have never hit that rookie wall especially coming off an injury and playing behind a terrible oline. The classless racism on this site that is allowed I swear lol.

But having said that, I was never a fan of Deshaun Watson. Same thing when Kaepernick was lighting it up I said he would fall fast. Never believed in him. He was playing behind an awesome oline and with a great defense. Now with Mahome and Garoppolo I believe they're for real. Trubinsky I have my doubts about.

I said Dak will fall this year too but the jury still out on him. He might be ok I don't know.

Why is it racist? Isn't it possible blacks don't make as good qb's as white's? I mean black people in general are better at basketball, right? I don't call that racist, I call it a fact...but it's only racist against black people?

another example, a movie called White Men Can't Jump...sure some white guys can but we all know most cannot jump as high as black people. No one claims racism. If the movie was called Black Men Can't Swim, America would have to burn!

Russell Wilson, Cam Newton? Vick? A lot of great black quarterbacks. The only reason there isn't more is because most blacks are gifted physically that they opt to become receivers or other skilled positions players. Whereas whites have to focus on becoming quarterbacks because they don't have that gift. If more blacks focused on playing and learning the quarterback position they'd dominate that too and probably will all said and done. It's the same thing with hockey, they just don't focus on hockey but could dominate that too.

I don't know. He seems like a good kid. Hope he can get anywhere close to the level he was playing at. That Oline is terrible though. Same thing with Russel Wilson, without some of these mobile quarterbacks creating magic I shudder to think how bad the offenses would be.

So, saying you can't rely on a black quarterback is bad. Meanwhile you just said whites have to focus onQB because they weren't born as athletic. And blacks can play various positions because of their athleticism. Oh Boy. How ironic is that comment?

I asked "isn't it possible", that's all. For some reason seems alot of people these days want us all to be the same. We're not. So isn't it possible blacks make worse QB's? Isn't it possible Asian people are smarter? Whenever someone brings up this possibility they are immediately branded racist. It's ridiculous.
