Taking a look back on CFB for week 4:

*Seven Top 25 teams went down Saturday including VT, TCU and Miss St. on the road.

*Look who's back? Texas has beaten USC and TCU in back-to-back weeks jumping into the Top 25.

*Those who were bashing Harbaugh 4 weeks ago are awfully quiet now after Michigan's 3rd straight win.

*Is Stanford really a top five team? No!

*Army controlled the ball over 44 minutes against Oklahoma. That's how you keep an elite offense off the field.

*Oregon wasted a stellar performance from QB Justin Herbert in loss to Stanford. The kid is the real deal.

*Huge win for Wisconsin as they came from behind in the final minute to beat Iowa.

*Central Florida (fake NC) hasn't missed a beat with new coach Josh Heupel as the Knights won their 16th straight game.

*Georgia held Missouri QB Drew Lock without a TD pass for the first time in 14 games.

*Duke improved to 4-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1952-53.

*A surprising BYU team is winning because of an elite defense.

*Don't bury Notre Dame's offense just yet now that Kelly changed QBs 2 weeks ago.

*Miami survived a lackluster win over FIU and will meet NC on a short week.

*West Virginia QB Will Grier has thrown 5 TDs in a game 5 times during his career. Maybe 6 after the shootout with
Texas Tech this weekend.

*Clemson picked up a road win (GT) and may have found themselves a new starting QB in true freshman Trevor Lawrence.

*Stanford, Cal and Colorado are the only unbeatens remaining in the Pac-12 Conference.

*Michigan State is about to face a difficult 3 game stretch against Northwestern, Penn State and Michigan.

*Alabama QB TT was good again against Texas A&M completing 22 of 30 passes for 387 yards and 4 TDs.

*Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins has twice as many total TDs through 4 games as Troy Smith managed during his
Heisman season. The kid is playing lights out!

*Texas had been outscored 153-33 the last four years by TCU.

*It's time to start worrying about Auburn's offense...can't run, can't pass.

*Oddsmakers say Alabama will be double digit-favorites in every game the rest of the season.

Welcome any additions or comments...……………………………...

Clover my Friend, the efforts you put into your posts is breathtaking....I wouldn't begin to know where to question or insert any comments, you've covered the entire week (4) of college football with keen insight. Post-Mortems are often easy to come by especially when they involve college football games with the aid of 20/20 hind-sight, your view(s) appear to be spot-on.

Damn, wasn't that Oregon loss something, blowing that big 4th quarter lead, I felt sorry for that QB (Herbert) not the Oregon coach. I don't put much credence in college football rankings but, no.........Stanford is not a top 5 team, that comeback win against the Ducks was attributed to a complete mental breakdown of the Coach(s) and several Oregon players.....That Stanford win was handed to them, gift wrapped.

Let's check and see who realistically remains in the hunt for the Playoffs, which are becoming more and more of a joke. Let's go by Conference. (Power 5 only because if you really think that one of the other 6 can get in, you have a major problem)

ACC. Atlantic...Clemson. Not nearly as good as people think they are, but still good enough to run the table. Syracuse is eliminated Saturday, and NC State is eliminated on 10/20 in Clemson...Coastal...NO ONE. Duke is the only remaining undefeated and they have not played a conference game yet.

Big 12...Oklahoma...Suddenly not as powerful as we may have thought, but a win against Texas and at West Virginia gets them there...West Virginia May have to play Oklahoma and defeat them twice in 8 days. Everyone else is capable of beating everyone else.

Big 10 East...It comes down to these two. Ohio State at Penn State. This Saturday night. It is highly doubtful that either one of these teams loses another game this season. After Saturday Night's game, Ohio State's schedule is made up of cream puffs...West...NO ONE. The voters would not be able to stay awake long enough to vote for one of these boring teams.

Pac 12 North...Stanford...If they win out, they will have won games at Oregon, Notre Dame, and Washington and NO ONE can keep them out of the Playoffs...Washington. They can be the best one loss team because the loss was so early on the road. Still doubtful...Pac 12 South. NO ONE. USC still may be the best team in the Pac 12 South, but they are good t best, not great.

SEC East...Georgia. There are two very soft Divisions in the Power 5 Conferences (minus the Big 12) and this is one of them. With their offense and defense, Georgia would have to look long and hard to find a way to lose a game in the regular season. SEC West...Alabama. This is the 2nd very soft Division in the Power 5. If Georgia has to look hard to find a loss, then Alabama has to call out the National Guard to find a loss. Oddly enough, both Georgia and Alabama play at LSU within 3 weeks of each other.

Summation: Both Alabama and Georgia go undefeated in regulation and play each other in the SEC CC game. It matters NOT who wins that game. They both go to the finals. Of the others, Clemson, Oklahoma and Ohio State have the best chance to get to the playoffs, followed by Stanford. If not one of those teams, it is going to get crazy.

Stevie: I agree with your suggesting that the SEC Championship game should be a real "doozy", but it is kind of sad that we are thinking championship and play-off games this early in the season, but it does look like the "handwriting is on the wall" as to who will be playing in them I always keep hoping that it would be more competitive throughout all of college football right up to the end of the season.....
