Breaking News:

It was just announced that Jimmy Garoppolo is officially done for the season with a torn ACL.

San Francisco's darkest fears have become reality: Jimmy Garoppolo's season is over.
A Monday morning MRI confirmed the 49ers starting quarterback suffered a torn left ACL in Sunday's 38-27 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, per the team.
Garoppolo's setback all but sinks an offense that came into the season with high hopes to compete in a frenzied NFC. San Francisco now advances into the guts of their schedule with second-year passer C.J. Beathard operating as the starter.

Garoppolo suffered the knee injury in the final quarter against Kansas City after scrambling down the sideline in hopes of gathering extra yardage. The 26-year-old signal-caller saw his left knee buckle before taking a heavy hit from Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson.

Garoppolo was carted off to the locker room -- San Francisco's season along with it, barring an upstart performance from Beathard under center.
The Niners (1-2) have endured their share of setbacks, losing running back Jerick McKinnon to a torn ACL and veteran cornerback Richard Sherman on Sunday for at least a few weeks with a calf injury.

Coach Kyle Shanahan looms as one of the game's more gifted play-callers, but his offense was stuck in neutral last season before trading a second-round pick to the Patriots for Jimmy G.

Garoppolo hit the scene as a magic man, and looked the part again this season. The timing of the injury should ensure his readiness for next year's opener, but those days are far off. Hazy and unknowing.

The present, right now, is a rugged place for Niners fans and this banged-up roster.

Too bad you can’t bet overs on season wins without injury insurance .

Thats why you never bet the house on any bet

He got hurt after 1.5 starts with NE. And if you saw the play he got hurt on yesterday, he's not exactly safe w/ his body out there. So him getting hurt fast was certainly in his range of outcomes far more than the avg QB.

Interested to see what happens with Goodwin/Kittle w/o him. Kittle is a beast, he has Gronk/Kelce potential but w/ Beathard it might be tough. Seems like a huge steal in fantasy next year if he just can't produce with a worse QB.

Hmmm? Interesting. Even though the Patriots have hit a little snag, I think it's safe to say they'll rebound. Willie, can I have part of your bet with Chop, please? The Niners have no chance of outpacing the Patriots now.

I have 9ers under 8.5 and and NE -2 wins vs SF w/ chop.

Another angle to this bet is a lot of people made a nice bet by getting on Seattle under 8.5. Closed at 8 shaded I believe.

4 games vs SF/AZ now? Doesn't look so bad if Wilson can stay healthy. Just goes to show that anything can happen.

I'll get the champagne ready for you and Willie. That's about as close to a lock as I've ever seen.

1) I'd rather he didn't get hurt, I'd rather win at full strength (but I'm not going to lose any sleep over the injury :))

2) Maybe Jimmy is injury prone. Two injuries in nine starts

3) And I never count my chickens before they hatch (Tom needs 75 passing yards to win the yardage bet)

4) PatsFan1283, you had to spot two wins?

Yeah.....2 wins...Should've been more like 3 imo, but he was insatiable for shorting the Pats so I knew he would bite.

I guess something to be said for Brady and the way he takes care of his body like it's a Temple. Unlike Jimmy G going out and looking to pound porn stars (not that there's anything wrong with that).
