- Cruz and his wife Heidi were targeted by protesters at Fiola, an Italian restaurant in Washington DC on Monday night
- The protesters shouted 'we believe survivors' at them and asked what his position on SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh was
- The senator and his wife tried to ignore the group and took their seats
- Cruz, 54, told one woman: 'God bless you ma'am' then sat down
- They got up and decided to leave seconds later as the group stood around their table chanting
- The protesters were from several anti-right wing groups including Smash Racism DC
- They posted on Twitter afterwards to threaten Cruz and President Trump, writing: 'You are not safe. We will find you.'
- Cruz is yet to acknowledge the incident and instead spent Tuesday encouraging his Twitter followers to vote for him
- Smash Racism DC would not answer questions on how they knew Cruz was there or why they targeted him on Tuesday
