Sorry for the late response, as far as the Kings, they need to score more.

Kovalchuk, should help with the scoring maybe 20 to 25 Goals this season, 30 would be awesome!!! I believe he will be a big help, as far as the Power Play goes.

I think the NHL as a whole, has gotten faster that scares me a bit with Kovalchuck, other then that I think he will be a welcome addition.

We will see if the age factor starts to creep up on the LA Kings.

I do think they creep into the Playoffs.

Thanks!!!

I will add this VegasVic, the hockey thing is still new for me so I'm doing my best to watch all teams and learn as I go. Like I said in earlier post, I may be a good go to fade this first NHL season posting.

That was actually a very good evaluation of Kovalchuk. It WILL be interesting to see his speed. They skate pretty fast there in the West. He will hold his own no problem, but he could be the difference in them competing for the Pacific or Western title, or for a playoff spot. Carter another year older. How long will he be feared as he’s been the last few years. I know he missed some time last year. I’m rooting for the Kings and I picked up Quick tonight in our fantasy draft. So to me, you nailed a very important question the Kings will face.

That was my thought as well.

Most pundits are all jumping on the 'Kings are too slow' bandwagon to compete in todays NHL. They got swept by Vegas in the first round of the playoffs last year and didn’t do anything to increase team speed. Acquiring a 35 year old Kovalchuk probably won’t help in that department.

The fact was the Kings were competitive in all four loses to the Knights in the post season last year, (all tight one goal loses including one in double OT). The two teams split the four regular season games. Their real issue is they don’t score enough as evidenced by the four goals they collected in four playoff games vs. the Knights. Kovalchuk should definitely help in that regard.

They haven’t looked good in their pre-season games, (1-6-1), and didn’t score a goal in their last two games. Now they lose Dustin Brown with a broken finger. On the plus side they get a healthy Jeff Carter back.

My belief is the Kings will be more of the same this year. Their defense and goaltender will lead the league again in least goals against, (only allowed 203 last year). They only allowed a average of 2.4 goals per in the 86 games they played last year including the playoffs. As long as you have a healthy Jonathan Quick the Kings will always be a factor.

gl this year Hotshot.
